Brake Light Just Came On

This morning while on my way to work I noticed that my brake light was still on. I checked the fluid, which was at the normal level. I changed a rear caliper in September but the brake light didn't come on. Nothing out of the ordinary happened today besides rubbing the curb while backing up. Any ideas as to where I should start?? It's cold and windy here so if there are any quick checks they would be appreciated.

maybe a short? check your wiring and check the taillight bulbs to see if a burnt bulb is creating a potential short... maybe also check fuse box.

Then why repply?? if you have no clue just stay away.

Check the brake fluid maybe you have a small leak.. add some more if that's the case...... the other thing could be brake pads going .......

My light came on when i was low on brake fluid. It looked ok when i would look at it but when I would put on the brakes it would go down. Put some more in just to make sure.

I was thinking fluid as others have mentioned. Also just double check that your ebrake is all the way down.

since it was raining and them got cold all of a sudden, maybe the emergency brake is not fully released because of icing?

Only thing I can think of is to check the charging system. Last time mine was goin out, all my dash lights came on (and the car died). So maybe this is a precurser to that. I'm really unsure.

Damn I need to get some of that stuff. Looks killer. I just had the shop replace my headlight fluid w/high quality Halogen fluid. They are damn bright now.
