footwell lights

i just installed footwell lights under the dashboard on both sides. anyone know a good thing to hook them up to so that they will come on when the car is stopped and or when the doors are opened? something fairly simple to wire up. i used to have a neon hooked up to the coin tray light so it would only come on when the lights are on but i dont want these lights on while driving. any ideas?

Try taping into the lighter for power so when the car is on the lights will be too

The wires from the door come in right behind the fuse box near the steering wheel. The only thing you have to do is find the wire color from the back of the light and find it from where it comes into the cabin and tap it. I also *think* the door lights are ground switched, so you can connect the lights directly to a power source using a fuse that would be suitable for the light, and tap the ground wire of the door lights, but Im not positive about them being ground switched.

They go through the rear door switch L/R to ground, and through the SECU then to the front door switch ground.

you are makeing this way too complicated, just hook the lights up to a switch so you can have them on and off when you want them.

Like DJ2max said, this would be similar to the anniversary door sills. You would need to tap into the courtesy light and "to do so there are positive and negative contacts in the rear of the assembly. You will need additional 24AWG wiring to reach the rear of that assembly so choice wisely." -Maxima.org instructional. As far as how to get it there which I understand is the real question at this point, I would somehow use the stock harness/gromet at the hinges of the door, other than that, I'm stumped as to do it any better. Lets see some pics of the final. Good luck
