I was thinkin about doing the same thing for more side bolstering and it would be a good way to reduce weight and give you better weight distribution (your taking weight out thats closer to the front)

I don't know of one aftermarket racing set that is powered. On another note, I would advise against a non-brand name seat. Stick with the quality ones, such as Recaro or Sparco.

Why stay away from non-brand name seats, will they break faster or other reasons. I think those seats are from APC, i know junk brand they were cheaper than custom sparrco which was 800,

Fitment might be off. Materials used aren't top-shelf. It will not last as long, etc.

Those seats are a piece of garbage. I had a friend who purchasd a set and regretted it. In additon, they look a little ricey for the max. Get yourself some recaros and call it a day.

I believe only Sparco makes TUV approved seats.

race seats are unless you autocross or road race your maxima. For street driving, stock seats are fine. If you're going with race seats, you'd better have shoulder harnesses as well...otherwise it's pure

why would you want to give up leather, heat, and side airbags unless the seats are needed for the track, anyways?

Seems like a great way to reduce weight. I am sure those power heated front seats weigh a **** load. Thats the only reason I'de get a carbon fiber hood. Just to take weight off the front. Looks wise I want my car to look pretty much stock. I like the sleeper effect on my daily driver. If I had a second track car though it would be all looks and performance

I do agree that those seats probably suck but recaros ans sparcos are so expensive its silly.

I say why throw away the convenience of fully justable seats and all the other comforts, espacilly when it wont make your car that much lighter.

true, but race seats are really not that comfortable (especially long-distance) for daily driving IMO. If the car is a track car, then the weight reduction of course will help. If the car is a daily driver and not a trackmobile, then I don't really see the point. BTW, most race seats aren't "super-light" because in autocross classing they can only be "so" light before you get penalized...

I would keep the stock seats. Keep the car classy on the inside.

i have the tenzo r rally style seats, they are a good price i beleive i paid about 1100 including the brackets, and i must say these seats are so much more comfortable than the stock ones. for example i used to travle back and forth from south carolina to central florida and my a$$ would be numb and my lower back would be sore after the trip and it isn't even that long of a trip. and i can tell you that i have driven that same route and a couple longer one's since i put the aftermarket seats in and the difference between the two are night and day.

i would suggest that you go with a quality seat though, the cheaper ones tend to rip and the foam can become compressed giving the seat a hard feel. i have had mine installed for over a year and still love them just as much as the first day.

You can't spell C R A P without APC.

If you're gonna change the seats, get some quality ones. None of the APC or Tenzo Rice garbage. There are quite a few top brands to choose from, with all sorts of options and prices.
A good seat makes a big difference in car control, since you don't have to struggle to keep from sliding around, and instead concentrate on carving those turns.

I dont think I'll ever get racing seats just because I dont think I'de ever fit. Most things (including clothes) arent meant for guys who lift weights. I dont think I'll find a seat that fits a 34in waist and 50in chest.

I have sat in some racing seats and although it fits snug around you and keeps you firm, you lose out on all the power and heated options you pay extra $$$ for. If I could get the seats I had in my 00' Mustang GT in my Maxi (that looked good) I would be happy.. those were made so you could take corners withought sliding around, but at the same time still have power and heat options

Cheap seats are just that, cheap. Materials will wear out quicker, the mounting rails are almost always universal and you have to modify them a ton for them to work, and with reclining models, the mechanism will wear out very quickly. I've seen a lot of APC and off brand seats where the brackets were mounted with only 2-3 bolts because that's all the owner could get to fit. I would never drive like that, but some people just want the look. And I've seen a lot of off brand seats with the fabric worn out like they were on a car for 10 years, and they had been used for only about 1 year. Finally, the reclining mechanism will get very sloppy on cheaper seats, like you can move the seatback 2-3" because there is so much play.

Also, as someone who has racing seats, if you drive your car a lot, they may not be for you. I have Corbeau A4's, very good seats. Comfortable, great support, etc. But getting in and out of the car is annoying, because of the high sides. If you wear a jacket, it's somewhat uncomfortable also. I just wish that nissan hadn't designed such a crappy stock seat or else I would have never made the switch.

FWIW, reclinable racing seats are not significantly lighter than stock seats. Racing seats are only really light if you have fixed back carbon seats or something ridiculous like that. Otherwise, they have metal frames and metal reclining mechanisms just like stock. And the mounting brackets are very heavy too. There are easier ways of taking weight off.

keep stock seats unless you plan on racing your car. i'd still want to be able to drive on long trips and not have my legs fall asleep or my butt fall off...

I used to put my Momo race seat in whenever I went autoX or doing some hot lapping around a race track in my Maxima. It was like a nite and day difference when using the seat. But at the same time the seat wasn't reclinable and looked VERY odd inside my car. I managed to make my Sparco Clubman harness to work with my stock (non power, fairly light) OEM seats, and they work ALMOST as good as a racing seat. I sometimes like to move my seats etc in my car and I MUST have the recline function.

Another problem I had was getting in and out of the car was a pain in the ****, as it was a bucket seat with VERY high side bolsters. I had to make my own custom brackets for the seat which took me many visits to Home Depot to get the right material, welding, measuring etc to make it all work. When all said and done my Momo seat weight almost as much as the stock seat did.

If you are DEAD set on racing seat, I highly recommend getting some Coreau, Cobra, Sparco, Momo or Recaro seats. APC, Tenzo and the other RICE seats fall apart too eassy. I actually seen one seat colapse on a guy durring a autoX session and it almost caused him to crash into a tree that was outside the parking lot we where racing on. The recline mechanisim broke and made the backrest flip down... imagine something like this happening to you when you are racing or driving- result could be devastating.
