Need Ideas for NEW retro project

I am going to start a retrofitting project probably sometime at the end of this month, or early March. I plan on retro fitting 2 projectors in stock housings. I am not sure if I want to stick with my 00-01 housings or find some OEM, or depo 02-03 housings. Basically, one is going to be low, and the other is going to be my high beam. I don't want to cut any corners, so this is going to be a slow project as I stash away money for projectors, ballast, etc. It would be my dream to throw some TSX, S2K, or maybe some nice ECE projectors in the low beams, and some LS projectors in the high beam. But, the would be expensive, and I don't know how that will work.

Basically, I want to get some ideas and suggestions from some of you retro folks.

What projectors would you run?
What housing would you use?
Any other suggestions.....

I amd going to be retrofitting my fog lights with MDX projectors before I do anything. I am not sure if running 3000k will be worth it, and if my battery can handle all the power.

If you do the 00-01 housings you will want to use a Bi-Xenon projector and bulb. Bi-Xenon projectors are amazing, great output and perfect cutoff.

It would also be much cheaper to use the Bi-Xenon in the 00-01 housing since you only need one set of projectors and bulbs.

If I were to do it, and I never will, I'd use OEM/Depot 5.5 gen housings with, perhaps, FX35/45 projectors. Would those even fit, though?

Q45's are all show no light. They are average and sometimes considered lower on the light output. Im pretty sure Sixxone wants some dope *** color.

Since you got bank, I would go with tsx as lows and maybe you can get away with any other projector without the shield as the highs. The LS won't be worth the $400 since the reflector attachment makes the beam so wide. S2000 are so so according to other HIDplanet members. Bang for the buck they aren't worth it. Don't get me wrong though, they are nice as hell. But I'd rather just get the TSX instead.

BTW, what happened to the other headlights I retro'd for you? Mine are jacked to hell now, the plastic was cheap on the outside and inside. Some of the parts started melting (just like you 194) and l.e.d.s suck for life. Are your ballast and bulbs still good though?

i would suggest going with tsx or s2k for the low and get some tl projectors for the highs but they're big so maybe fx would work better for high beams sicne they're bit smaller. if you want super performance get a set of lexus LS430 projectors those things are SUPER WIDE...and bright too...i'm pretty sure they're fit the 5.5gen housings but might be too big...not too sure...i was originally gonna retrofit the ls430 projectors in my 5.5gen but then i messed up my bumper and don't feel like getting it done anymore =/

Awhile back I toyed with the idea of a quad projector retro with dr roy. It would look cool but depending on how you want it to function it may be overkill.

The best housing to use would either be the 02/03 HID headlights or the ebay projetors. I would go with the ebay projectors.

As far as projectors go, we have all seen the color and light output of the following projectors: e46 bosch, mdx and TSX.

You may want to stick with one type of projector. That way the light and color output will look the same. Example: you could go with single xenon bosch for low beams and a fixed bi-xenon bosch for the highs. Fixed meaning you would remove or lock the cutoff shield. The other reason for going with the bosch is that it's a perfect swap with the ebay projector. But choosing the projectors is entirely up to you.

Check out hidplanet. There is a guy who did a quad projector retro on his Jeep Cherokee. I think it was all low beam. He spent some bucks but it it looked awesome.

Looking good still, thats why I am going to take my time. I plan to begin looking now, so I can get an idea of the price. Slowly work on them as I save.

Are you going to get some regular 4100k bulbs this time?
