Hey Team,
I haven't been on the forum since I got a large welcoming from about 40 of you, back in March So WHASS'UP!.
I did want to share with you the opportunity I had yesterday at Road Atlanta, as I got invited by the Troncalli Sales Mgr. to go an experience a private car test sponsored by Nissan/Infiniti.
A few test cars set up including the new Altima V6 for 2002, which was parked in the grass area. Let me tell you Max owners that this is a BIG CAR and it will MOVE. One insider was saying that Renault, who has money staked into nissan wanted to eliminate the Maxima from the lineup, thus the reason that the Altima is large but nissan gave a big no-no to that idea. But it will be strange to see the Altima-V6 outdueling Maximas for about a year until the max face-lift comes.
The big reason for this post is to say YESSS!! I'm one of the firsts to run side-by-side with the new Q-45 from zero to about 80!!! in a 2K1 Max and I'm proud to say that Never have I enjoyed losing by almost 2 car lengths so much as to applaud infiniti for coming back strong with such a BADD AZZ car.
I got 3 chances to drag at one but not even close on any runs. A 5-speed 2K1 Max will probibly get a glimpse of the Q's shadow but not for long. Too much for the Max!.
Then I got to Drive it!! The ride is a little tall (Car has 225-55-17's) but the speed rush inside the cabinet up to 100mph is very quick but it's as if you weren't moving that fast unless you kept your eyes on the digital readout (Speedometer).
Last but not least the car has an electronic chip Key (Mercedez style) with cadillac suspension. Well they got a winner this time!! all $53,000 of it!
Go Nissan/Infiniti!!! and Thanks for the Invite - I had a blast! Well, a blast past me, that is.

Supposedly, all the mags say that the Q45 is less powerful than Nissan advertises. Hell, Road & Track tested both and found the LS430 to be more powerful? Nissan better come out with a fix!

That could be! But I found the car to be pretty unique for Infiniti standards. We all know their's alot more improvement to go before you can whisper Infiniti with Lexus!!

I blame the automatic transmission on the slower-than-expected Q45 acceleration times. Look at its shift points. 6,300rpm?!?! Common NISSAN! The engine makes peak HP at 6,400rpms and it redlines at 7,000rpms. Yet it ONLY shifts at 6,300rpms? MT also said that the torque convertor stall point was LOWER than others in their test. The low shift points sicken me as much as the 5th gen. 6,000rpm shift points. BLAH! ->Nissan
