The loaded golf is 20k. The 1.8t is a turboed engine. That's where the big gains come from with the chip. It ups the boost. So the 325 would be more expensive and wouldn't see the same gains.

Me likes VW. (Cookie Moster Voice) I've got my eye on the new 201 HP VR6 this fall. I heard that the 2002 1.8 will get the 20 HP increase this fall as well. How smooth is the shifter? My wife said she is willing to learn how as well.
It's a great stick to drive. The clutch is nice and the shifter is good. Probably could use an STS but its not bad. Go test drive one. Its a fun engine to play with.

To answer the question about the shifter:

I have spent 2 days for about an hour each time practicing on the 5 speed. My previous experience was limited to about 4 tries in an old datsun. I am VERY impressed with the fluidity of the shifting in this car. The only trouble I have is with the age old hill acceleration. But of course that's just going to take time and practice. This car is such a painless ride. I love it. (Do you think I like the car at all?)

you got a Maxima after yer gf gets the hang of it, you say "hon lets see who can make it home first." then make that Maxima move like the professinal driver on the closed course.
