Front Bumper Conversion?

As some of you know, My front bumper was clipped in an Accident, But Will the 5.5 Gen front bumper and Grill mount up on a 5th gen? I was thinking of doing the 5.5 front conversion on my 5th Gen, as well as replacing fogs, and the grill. Is it possible that it will fit flush? Here is one pic...

From what I have read so far I think it should be play-n-play...

I am actually working on this right now..
my hands started to freeze, so I came inside for a little break, I'll take some pictures.
It has been pretty easy so far, and I am almost done.
I'll be back with pics in about an hour.

Seems liek a lot of ppl are looking to do this 5.5 front end swap. For those who have done it, where did you buy the front bumper cover? Would ebay do well enough, or keep away? Maybe a rough estimate of how much the project was as well?

Looks great, I guess it's plug and play besides the wheel liner, no?

I recently did this as well. My 01 foglights would not fit into the 02 bumper, so I had to get the 02 fogs. THEN I found out (not to my surprise) that the plug for the 02 fogs is a MALE connector; the 01 is a female connector. Anyway, those wires were spliced and diced ---> I put the 01 connectors on the 02 fogs and its all good.

Issues:
1. plastic coverings
2. foglights
3. grille (gotta buy 1 - aftermarket or stock?)
4. fit - there were some open spaces close to the wheel well, I had to get large washers for the bolts to hold the bumper in and eliminate the gaps. also, its tight if you've got big hands

Overall I am very pleased with the product (sorry no pics ).

As far as cost, heres how mine broke down:
$400 HID's (ebay)
$70 '02 bumper (ebay)
$370 bumper paint job
$120 '02 fogs (ebay)
$100 grille (courtesy nissan)
<$1 washers (lowes)

lookin back at this....MAN THATS ALOTTA $$$. Of corse these purchases happened over the span of about 3-4 months
GOOD LUCK

NisMo-Max- In the second pic, the car has a 2000 bumper.

steven88- He doesn't have a lip now, but he is looking for a MT lip. On the 2000 bumper, he had a ABS Dynamics lip.

It cost my cousin around $750 for everything. That's including a new hood, bumper, used fogs, lights with HIDs, grille and paint.

isn't $750 cheap as hell? or at least a little on the cheaper side of things? I mean new hood, bumper, used fogs, lights with HIDs, grille and paint...sounds like alot of things

Van, are you interested in a CF MT-style lip? Ionic Dynamics is in the works of making one....if you can e-mail him at info@ionicdynamics.com and express interest....he should get this thing out into production alot quicker...cuz i want one sooo bad

Im doin this as well, i got my bumber for 113, it's an oem one, and i just bought my oem 02 lights off ebay for 430 shipped. not too bad so far. grille and fog lights are next to come in two weeks or so. it will be done by maxus. i think i might be the first green 5th gen to do the conversion, atleast i hope so.

If I were doign this conversion I would only use OEM parts because aftermarket parts have horrible fitment.

i did this conversion quite some time ago before i even knew about the org. Learn from me and do not buy the ebay one! if will not fit properly on the sides nor on the hood. you must get the oem. i bought mine off ebay when our hid headlights were being stolen out of control in 02-03 and someone had hit a dealership so the guy had like 25 bumpers from thieves prying to get hids. i payed $50. no matter what it costs take your time and find an oem one. i also bought the ebay one because the oem one needed repair but even with the repair the oem looked 100 times better. you could'nt even tell it was ever damaged. it lines right up and makes gap from hids dissapear and sits lower to ground than my 2k and especially with stillen front lip. Also get the stock grille. personally i don't think the aftermarket ones look good at all. it took me about 3 months to find my 2k2 grille on ebay but i eventually did and it was worth it. Stealership wanted like 200 something for grille and 30 something for emblem- 65 shipped off ebay. fogs are not interchangable, must have 2k2-3's. Again 120 shipped on ebay compared to like 600 from dealer. If you have to do it as i did, DO IT AND YOU WILL LOVE IT!! but do it right and plan on spending some time to track down proper parts or you'll end up looking like azz. good luck to all doing the mod, and even though many 5.5 gen owners will disagree, i love my 5.5 gen 2k max lol of course aside from the 3.5.....

vsamoylov- He was involved in a minor accident.

steven88- We have a lot of hookups for paint and body here. The headlights were just pure luck from eBay. The fogs were from the members on this forum.

NisMo-Max- It's an ABS Dynamics lip.

No it will not...AE lip will only fit 2k-2k1 model maximas....or a 2k2-2k3 maxima with a 2k-2k1 bumper....

You CAN fit an AE lip onto a 2k2-2k3 but it has to be modified by a body shop

oh well, too late anyways...the body shop already got all the parts and put everything back together so...I actually don't mind the 01 bumper with the AE lip on it, it's the plain 01 bumper that IMO looks like ***...

No, the lip portion(s) are removable. The lip, itself, is 3 pieces.
