Just GAB my se

I have a much simpler solution for the GAB, of course take out the filter, go to ace and buy 3/8in wide PVC Foam weatherstrip (gray with white backing), one sides sticky, and in about 17 ft long (get a good thickness too, about 1/4in because it compresses easilly) for like 3 bucks. With HOT GLUE, works best and seals, glue the non-sticky side of the stripping to the very edges of the filter (just make the edges flush, doesn't have to be perfect) then once all four edges are done, simply peel the backing off for the sticky side, and slap it in the air box, make sure its "sitting" correctly, and trust me this stuff holds decievingly (sp) well. Get something long and solidly press all the edges to secure the filter.
RESULTS
-Neater than coat hanger
-sound is SO noticable at hard acceleration, (mine vibrates the interior, then again anything does in this car)
-Don't really FEEL the hp, but like people say, its dyno proven, and its free!

I've been reading about the ghetto air box thing for a while now, does it really make it sound a little better? All it is is taking out the plastic piece that holds in the air filter and just letting the filter sit there but holding it against the airbox(so dirt doesnt get in) with something? Kinda neat idea i suppose

Do you have any pics? Also since you use glue can you take the filter off in the future?

He's going to have to tear off the stripping every time and install new stripping on the new filter. Seems doable.

Sounds logical, my only concern would be the heat in the engine bay as it relates to the glue of the weather striping. I'd keep a close eye on it. You don't want your filter falling out while your driving down the road.

engine heat + heated stripping = engine fire = FTL

but... it does sound interesting how you put this together IMO I wouldnt do it

use high temp silicon or something other than hot glue. the whole point of hot glue is to run when hot...not so sure that would work well. try using silicon instead and it will probly work.

you guys called it, the adhesive got too warm and it fell off.. Im wondering though wont silicone make it pretty permanent.?
03maxima1-ya im returning it now.. this works just as well

UPDATE: I ran a bead of hot glue around the edge and quickly mounted it before it dried, it works perfectly, and it isn't HOT around there, it gets more or less warm at most, and this does not affect the glue enough, if anything, makes it more flexible or plyable which I'd rather have as apposed to a dry, cold glue which could easilly peal off of a slick surface like plastic
