i have about 3bills to be used rite now...and i wanna drop my max, but keep the ride as stock [or better] as possible...i was wondering if i could juss get H&R's rite now, and when i get some more money, hook up Koni or Tokicos later? ive read most of the discussions on dropping the max, and most of em say to juss wait for both springs and struts, but i really dont wanna wait that long...would it be bad idea to not wait for struts?

It's not a bad idea...just a costlier one in the long run because you're going to have to pay for the install twice since the stocks will wear out pretty quick. I don't blame you though for wanting it lowered ASAP.

I agree with mbcp.....why spend time/money on labor twice? Wait for the struts and do it all at once. Better yet, get Konis since they are guaranteed for life. You will never have to mess with your suspension after that

check out www.shox.com

i would just save up the $600 for both, and install them at once.

the price came out to be $575, but $600 w/ shipping, etc.

I've seen many places with coupons of $29.95 for 2-wheel and $49.95 for 4-wheel alignments.

I've seen it anywhere from $100 - $200 installed here in SoCal. Personally, I've gotten it done twice (lowered and raised) with the same guy and it averaged out to $100 each time.

You should actually call up Shox.com and talk to a rep because they have a Maxima.org Pricelist. They'll answer all your questions too.

First of all, you mean RSB not RSTB right? Anyways, you shouldn't need to take the FSTB off. Also it looks like you haven't installed your RSB yet so just ask the guy to do it for you after he lowers the car and it'll save you some trouble.

The FSTB bolts on top of the strut towers so it doesn't affect the install. As for the RSTB...

To answer your question, the H&R's are designed to work with the stock struts. It is the Eibachs that will cause the stock struts to wear quickly and they will need to be replaced after 7,000 to 10,000 miles.

It would be easier to take the FSTB off. The FSTB mounts to the plate that is connected to the top of the strut.

mbcp_tdogg,

I see in your sig you have the 3M Scotchguard. Is this the same as the X-Pel stuff? How do you like it?
Do you wash and wax your car like you normally do? Thanks.

ok so i dont need new koni's or tokicoz...yeaa, thats awesome; but 1 question, what r u referrring when u say 'they' need to be replaced after 7k to 10k miles?

i would still reccomeend aftermarket struts.. ne drop will effect the shocks.

Yup...that's what I've been reading here on the .org. That's why I bought my Toks.

"They" are the struts. You're just delaying the inevitable if you wait and that's why it's better to do it all at once IMO to save on labor.

True true...all that taking into consideration the existence of labor costs. Hey, if you can do it all yourself or for free, you can afford to really play around with your Max.

As for my 3M nose mask, it's the same stuff as the x-pel. I had it professionally installed...kinda costly but it took the guy and his partner all day so it was worth it for me.
