Side Markers?

Any body with a 5th gen. have side markers? If you do, post some pics. And I'm not talking about the bumper lights, I mean side markers like Audi's, VW's and well I guess some Honda's. I just orderes a pair from SAAB, and was wondering the proper placement, and what they looked like.

Thanks,
Dominic

It's basically a Maxima.Org 5th generation trademark. If you look around, you'll see them on 98% of the 5th gens that post here.

Check the members rides section too.

you mean the one on the front quarter panel near the front door?
those other cars have them because they dont have them on the bumper. i remember seeing one person that did and it looked funny since it was just an extra light

I think the majority of the 5th gen members focus on modding the corner markers.

My fault I didn't understand what you were referring to in the first post.

Well against popular demand, I got the markers today, and am putting them in tomorrow. They are the smoked side markers from a Saab 9-5 ARC, so I'll post pics up when I'm done. From just holding them up to the car, I think they'll actually look really good despite already having the bumper lights.

OH2kblackMAXX,

I asked the same question a few months ago with no response either. I guess there are only 2 people on the org that think fender mounted side markers are useful and cool. I would like to do it but I'm hesitant to drill a hole in my fender. I'm planning to construct a side marker that mounts to the underside of my side view mirrors (something like the Ford Expedition, etc) but much smaller. If I don't like it then I can patch the small hole and it won't be noticable. Please post pics when you're done. Good Luck.

Well I'm utterly stocked about putting the markers in today. For just having them held up there, they look like they're gonna be badass!

I had put these sidemarker mods on my '95 when I had it. They were the universal ones where you had to drill a hole into the fender and run the wire to the turn signal. They look good on the 4th gener's, but they look kind of fugly on the 5th gener's. Another way of putting it.....

Maybe I am missing something, but if you already have side markers front and back why do you want another one in the fender?

I did Jason (soonerfan)'s side markers. NO, they are not "smoked," they are painted with the same gloss black paint that the body of the car is painted, and then 2 coats of clear coat.

When off, they blend in like they're not even there. When turned on, they still shine brightly, as you can see in this pic of my car, which has the exact same setup. The key is to just use a light coat of black paint, so it's thin enough to shine through.

Thank you!!!! Someone actually agrees with me.

I had to get the light harness from Saab, so they'll be functional by tomorrow and I'll take some pics a post them.

I have a strong feeling you nonbelievers will change your minds. You can barely notice these until the light comes on. They look really good with the BUMPER LIGHTS.

Has anyone used VHT Niite Shade Tailight paint to smoke out their side markers? Does this stuff work? Here is the link to Custom Enterprises

Here's mine, smoked from CE. I wish they would come out with the rears already, but with the rear being red it doesn't look out of place. If I painted the rears they would definately not flow well. First pic is a comparison of the clear and the smoked. 2nd pic is the clears on the car. 3rd pic is of course of the smokes on the car.

Acutally I am at school in Indianapolis right now and haven't done this yet, but believe me I will have it done soon enough. I am just as anxious to see the results as you.

actually Lamin-x. It s film that goes right over the lights themselves. They're also removable so it definitely fit what I wanted. I bought smoked...used it on my tails and the side markers. I don't think they made rear side markers tinted but with this you can. I can provide more pics if you want.

Did you just order film from them and cut it yourself or did they cut it for you? If you want to send me pics you can email me...mkendrick@townisp.com
I would love to see how you did it.

Yes, could you provide more pics of your tail lights. I want the smoked look but didn't want to take them apart to spray them with the tint.
I would like to see how you did the tails..if you can't post them here you could send them to my e-mail at supermax2k@hotmail.com
