So I got a new alternator and drive belts put in last week, also had the oil changed. Ever since then, when the car is cold and I start it, after ignition the engine squeaks for about 1 second. I figured it was the new belts, but could it be something else? Also since then, whenever my car is cold, and I start it, the engine is kinda loud, almost knocking. After it warms up its fine and quiet as it always was, but it never was this loud while warming up before. Is something wrong, or is my car just showing its age? Thanks.

P.S. Its an 02 with 78,000 miles.

Did you check the oil level in the engine. And also make sure there is enough tension on the belts for your squeeking problem.

Yeah I checked the oil level and it was fine. I really think it might just be the belts.

Belt tension, a little belt grease on the pulleys never hurts.

its just the belt....mine does the same thing
