How fast does your tranny shift 1-2?

Just curious. On WOT my needle flies backwards like lightning (it's absurdly fast), it's really pretty impressive how fast my transmission shifts into 2nd and even into 3rd. So I was wondering if everyone else's trannys are that quick?

My auto shifts is so smooth from 1 to2 as I cannot feel anything that make me realize it's shifting. I think all Max should done that. But I definitely can tell the shift from 2 to 3 on WOT.

Arnold you got auto or manual?
Well I got auto and by the time I shift from 1st to 2nd the idle still keeps droping by 400 RMP down and then shifts up. Is that normal, anyone knows? Could that be my MAF. I got 64K on the car and haven't cleaned my MAF since then.

My auto takes about 2 seconds from 1-2 with a big kick. I guess I need to do the VB mod or TCM or something.

hmm.. i think the gear ratio difference is the highest from 1st to 2nd... its a big drop.. and i personally think that 4th to 5th blows cuz its so little.
that's why i want a 5.5gen 6spd!

My tranny shifts..........

My "Auto" tranny shifts very fast. The 1-2 shift is ridiculously fast. The 2-3 shift at wide open throttle chirps the wheels almost every time. The Stage 2 VB mod for tranny performance along with the synthetic ATF fluid can not me matched by a stock tranny. Best money spent on my car with the suspension being a close second .

Mine shifts quickly as well, and I just love the pull of 1st and 2nd.

Hasn't it been shown that the vb mod doesnt make you any faster in the quarter mile?

If so whats the friggen point?

Basically for the Maxima community (in particular 5th gens) it extends the life of the tranny.

A Stage 2 Valve Body w/ trans cooler is a mod that is often purchased by NY Maxima enthusiasts. It's basically a swap to a more aggressive valve body that reduces the slip of your transmission (thus increasing its life) and creating a much sharper/harder shift. A Stage 2 and 3 are pretty tough for everyday driving (especially 3), it feels like somebody crashed into your car -- where as a Stage 1 is friendlier, but delivers some pretty crisp shifts.

Got it?

Oh and the only place that does it around here is MaximumTuning in Long Island. If you want to get yours done, you have to send them your valve body and they send you a modified one.

There is a place in NY that does it (or used to). I got mine from them, basically they shipped out a valvebody that was modded, you remove your valvebody and install the one they ship to you and viola. I'm not sure if they still do Max VB's mods anymore.

There may be another place that does them, but you'd have to search on here.

Here is the place I got my VB mod at..
