GAB, FTW.

Or, if you just want one for sound/looks, get a Berk.

Cattman sells the Place Racing CAI, the only true CAI for Maximas.

go to auto zone and get a cone filter or just get a k/n drop in filter. Should save yu alot of money and the cone filter will still have a different sound

I just got a berk intake with apexi filter, and so far i like it. Nice sound and i can feel a little powe difference. If you new to intakes dont go with K&N. When you have to clean it you can end up over oiling it and blowing your maf. Ide say an intake is definately worth but in the STICKIES they tested the Place Racing intake vs. a short ram and the short ram showed the most gains.

With so many for either or now I am confused. So should I get one or not? Do they help performance or not? I am going for speed not sound.

If you're really serious about performance, save your money and consider getting a turbo or supercharger. Otherwise you'd be wasting your time.

Do research and review the TC/SC section.

If you are going for speed check into getting a y-pipe. I think they are bolt on(someone chime in), but am not sure. They will give you much more horsepower, where as the intake is more for sound. If your looking toimprove your suspension consider getting a front and rear sway bar.

Is there really a difference in sound with the cone filters? I've got a friend who has one on his Civic and it sounds exactly the same to me.

Just go with a GAB and y-pipe; most bang for the buck IMO. Save the cash for a good suspension set up and wheels!

GAB FTW!!! Don't spend the 200+ on an intake, go GAB and you'll be happy. It produces the same gains if not more than injen or berk.

omg. for $40 I got a huge cone filter. It looks funny, but thats what I like, a shock when people see it. It whistles in the wind and sounds like a small turbo without a blow off valve most of the time when the car shifts. It is twice the size of a normal high quality air filter(aem, k&n, etc). I will takes some pics and post them here in a few minutes!
