bose question

I read the stickies and used the search function and I understand that it is possible to put a sub in. I am wondering if the head unit has an amp to power the bose speakers or does each speaker have it's own individual amp? When I changed out the bose in my 89SE, each speaker had it's own amp and so I am seeing if it is the same in the 2k's

It is the same as your 98... Each speaker has its own amp coming from the Head Unit... You should be able to tap into the Bose Sub and go from there...

Unless I'm mistaken many Bose speakers are 2 or even 1 ohm units that will put a high heat load on a stock amp designed for 4 ohm automotive speakers. If you're dumping the head unit, I'd replace the speakers too just to get better sound.

yes. you can connect the PAC OEM-NIS2 adapter. it's a splice from your head-unit. creates rca connections for use with any aftermarket amp. you can run a sub from those, just like regular aftermarket hu. the adapter goes for about $60.

The tweets are not amped. I installed (per the lead of others on the org) a set of Polk EX3500's in our Max with Bose.

I believe the amp for the sub is located on the sub.
