im in the market for a airhorn

i seen a couple of brands but they all look the same besides the color,

anyone know if there is a differeces in the air horns- such as sound, or is it just name brand that different???

hella was the only fimilar name brand that i seen and it was 29.99 plus shipping , anyone seen them cheaper??

Both Rcticmax and Y2KevSE have these horns that you can buy at Pep Boys for $13.99 each. As soon as I get a chance, I'm going to put those in as well because our stock horns sound like bicycle toots. Check out Kev's homepage.

Yeah Terrance, I agree...our stock horns are downright embarassing. I use is as seldom as I can because I don't want anyone to think that I stole the sound from a VW bettle.
I was hoping to get mine done this weekend if the weather permits.

Where can these air horns be ordered online? Best pricing and specific make/model would be cool too? How easy/hard are they to install. I sold my 1998 Beetle (had one of the first 4000 made) and bought the Max. Trust me the New Beetle horn is better than ours...

PS Kev you should set up a sig battle sometime. Would be fun for sure but has to have the owner's Max in it for sure and for set period time.

Us Accord V6'ers have the same problem that you guys do with the stock crappy rubber-ducky / doggy-squeak-toy sounding OEM horn.

A couple of our guys have tried the cheapy hella's and the stuff you can buy at Pep Boys, but they all say that the German Hella Horns from Griot's Garage are by far the best ones. A bunch of our guys have them, and a bunch more are getting them, too. I just ordered mine so they're in the mail. The price is steep ($80 w/S&H) but if you drive in an area with a high retard density then they're probably worth it.

I think the horns also have an adjustable screw for pitch, so you can custom tweak the horn to a pitch that you like. The horns are about $10 cheaper at rallylights.com than at griots garage, too.

Someone had mentioned a month ago that the horns were hard to install.
Something along that lines of taking the grill off which meant you had to take the bumper off?!

Does anyone have any install recommendations?
I would the German Hella if I knew it were easy to install.

It's not that hard to install actually. I have the Hella Triple Air Horns. The hardest part is probably finding the right brackets (if they didn't come with any) and mounting them properly.

I have a fourth gen btw. And there should be two horns if I'm no mistaken. One in front and one next to the engine. I just disconnected the one in front and hooked up the airhorns to the one next to the engine.

I got some brackets at Home Depot. What I meant by problems is that either the holes are too close or too far apart.

Two of the horns fit into the pre-drilled holes with no problem. But the third one would either be too close to the others or hit something else. Long story short: I was too lazy to drill a hole so I just zip-tied the third horn to the bracket.

You just have to be creative with the brackets you get from Home Depot. I doubt there's a bracket there that will fit all three horns perfectly.
