Exhaust shops that install the y-pipe

Well, I ordered a ws ss y-pipe so I got under the car today and tested those evil bolts that would need to come off. I could only loosen one of them. The others have got a decent amount of rust.

Just wondering where others have had their y-pipes installed? I've heard it can be a real hassle to get a mechanic to do it.

Just have some place replace all your hardware and then do the install yourself. Many places will not do the actual install because of federal emissions laws. Meineke replaced all my rusty hardware for 30 bucks and that made the install pretty straightforward.

So just ask them to replace the bolts on the exhaust from the cat back? I've actually read a few posts about places refusing to do that because they "suspected" someone was going to install a y-pipe...not really their problem so I'm not sure what the big deal is.

it doesn't matter what they suspect. There is nothing illegal about changing your bolts....it doesn't matter what they "think" you're doing....

Shops should refuse to mount tires for me because they "suspect" that I might drive over the speed limit....

I agree, but I guess there have been people who got that response.
