Is it just me or is the steering wheel in the max big enough to drive a bus with? I want to replace it and I want to keep my airbag and cruise control switches. Anyone know if it can be done with a Sentra or Pathfinder wheel?

With my seat all the way down and slid all the way back and the "tilt wheel" all the way up, my legs still hit the bottom of the wheel every time I get in.

Speaking of "Tilt wheel" WTF up is with the adjustment we have... all of like .25 inches and .12 degrees. heheh

Yup. I thought I was the only one that had a complaint about that. I'm all of 5'7" and my legs hit everytime I try to get in. Oh well, want to keep all my controls so I guess I'll have to live with it.

sit in the back behind the passanger side (right side) and look at the wheel. i did that when i was cleaning my car, it looked like i could easily sqeeze my whole body through it. (im not going to try though)

Try an Atari 5200 joystick, they are interchangable w the steering wheel!

I thought they got the wheels from Peterbilt! The oversized wheel adds to the slowness of the steering - a noticeable downer. I'd love to be able to try a Sentra or such wheel, but don't have the resources to research it - but I bet the Pathfinder wheel is the same as the Max, after all, it's a truck.

I've driven a Pathfinder. My first impression was... DAMN! This wheel is soo much smaller than my maxes! I wonder if Dave B could figure this out.

I hate the steering wheel so much that I'm trading my 2001 Maxima SE for a 2002 Altima SE. I find it impossible to get in out of the car withour getting stuck under the wheel even though it is tilted all the way up. I'm only 5'10' and 190 lbs. So it's not like I'm some huge guy. I love everything else about the car but can't deal with the wheel. The Altima wheel tilts way up out of the way and also has a telescoping feature. Why couldn't they put the Altima wheel in the Maxima. Nissan must know about the problem. And in case you are wondering. The 2002 Maxima has the same tilt as the 2001.

i agree, it's a big *** steering wheel.. especially for a "sports sedan".. just one of those things u gotta cope with i guess.. i can't do something drastic like switch from a max to an altima just because of THAT!

I think it's fine, just need a telescoping option.

Can't resist

Hehehe,

Reminds me of a game on "Whose line is it Anyways" called scenes from a hat. One of my favorites is: "Things you can say about XXXX that you can't say about your wife/girlfriend".

so, Things you can say about your steering wheel that you can't say about your wife or girlfriend.

It's nice and fat, which I like.

Sorry, couldn't resist...
