Lost my Maxima key and remote
Lost my Maxima key and remote
Hey does anyone know where I can order a nissan key and remote for less because my local dealer (sburb of Chicago) charges like $100 for the remote and $70 for the key, and i think to program them its like $49. so what i was thinking is buy the key and remote and have my local dealer program them.
You can get the remotes really cheap on ebay and you can program that yourself. The instructions are on this board somewhere. But you probably won't find the key for less than $50 and you have to pay a stealership to program it. I think they charge about $80 to program the key.
Definitely ebay for the key. You may be able to find a local locksmith to do the reprogramming, though. Just get as many keys as you want before you have the programming done.
a locksmith can not "program" the key. he wont even be able to cut the key without a key that has already been cut.
that has to be done by the dealership. they know the cut and the programing code by the VIN

My locksmith not only programmed my key but he cut it as well. You need to go to the professional locksmiths that deal with car keys as well as all other ones. I got 2 new keys and program of the keys for 70 dollars.
Ohh wait he does not have any other back up keys like a trunk key?

Definitely check out www.keylessride.com for the remote. The price for a 2003 remote is only $54 dollars and it's identical to the factory one. The programming instructions should come with it and it takes less than 5 minutes to program yourself. I got one for my 2002 I35 over a year ago and haven't had one problem with it. The dealership wanted something like $150 for the remote.

I had a key cut for the ignition on an S10. The guy had the ignition switch out and a key cut in about 5 minutes.

I called the local nissan dealer and told them i bought a key off ebay and needed it programmed. The service writer said bring it in and we'll do it in 5 minutes. I will let you know how it goes. Will be next week, going out of town, plus waiting for the key still.
