An update after 15K miles with new brakes :(

I bought some brakes from a fellow org member in the GD forum and wanted to give everyone an update on these products after 15K miles of use.

The products: Brembo slotted zinc plated rotors with PBR Ultimate Ceramic Performance Brake Pads.

The result: The rotors have groves as wide as the pads. It seems they cut through the rotors after only 15K miles. I do not drive fast. I do not race. My car has never been to the track. I drive back and forth from school, appox. 61 miles per day. It looks like the compound of these pads has etched the rotor where contact is made. These pads dust more than any other I have ever used. I am not knocking either product independently, however, I would not recommend using them together.

Previously: I used these same rotors with EBC Green Stuff pads. The pads lasted 15K between changes, which I knew after calling the manufacturer, but the rotors lasted 38K miles before warping.

I know the rotors on the 5th gens are undersized and have a tendancy to warp on with regular usage, I just expected some aftermarket companies to make something that lasted the same or longer than the OEM products. I also wanted to let the people know that may be in the market for brakes to avoid this combination.

I'm about to do a change soon this is good info, unfortunately i had the part sitting around for a few months after I bought it, due to weather etc, and that my brakes were ok still i hadn't done all of it this year yet. Guess these pads do have issues? Same pads as you put on. (I'm using cross drilled slotted rotors)
Which pads were you referring to for 15K the EBCs that only last between changes?

I wish I had a part number for you but I don't have the packaging. They are the EBC Green Stuff pads. I guess I should have added that I absolutely loved the Green Stuff pads. The ONLY drawback is their longevity. They had soo much more stopping power than the current pads. I may go back to them after I order my Power Slots.

From my experience most any type of "ultra high performance" brake pad chews the hell out of the rotors. I had a set of the axxis ones back in the day & withing 1 week just threw them away for a few reasons.

1. They chewed grooves into the rotor in that 1 week, not to severe though.
2. The brakes squealing like under 5mph just anoyed the hell out of me.
3. My car sounded like the airports shuttle van when stopping.

Best street combo ive come across this far, brembo drilled with OEM pads.
No noise, ever. Has been on the car for about 35k miles & isnt even 50% worn yet.

5th Gen Braking System

I dumped the OEM rotors/pads for a Powerslot rotors and Hawk HPS pads. The Hawk pads are a little dusty in front, but fine in the rear. After about 10K miles I am getting a mild brake judder when the brakes heat up. I am talking to the Powerslot technical team. They asked me to take some surface photos and have rotor run-out and thin surface variation measured. EBC Green Stuff pads may have been thermal conductivity, but appear to wearout faster. I may upgrade to the cryo-treated Powerslot rotors. For those of you choosing cross-drilling, unless you race, you are making a mistake. Slotted rotors make more sense-
