Oil change and ABS light

Did my oil change yesterday when the car was lowered to the ground the abs light turned on. So i turned it off and back on, still there. I did some searching and found that if i disconnect the neg battery cable that it might reset the light (http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ght=ABS+Light). It didn't still on (left off over night) Just to make sure it was a problem i hit the brakes pretty hard doing about 40 all 4 tires locked up. Im taking it to nissan for service might as well get this fixed just wondering how much this will cost.

Go to autozone and find out what the code is.. Probably knocked one of the sensors on the wheel loose if it came on before you started moving. Could also be a broken tooth. First thing I would do is check the connections at all of the sensors.
FYI: anytime your abs detects a falt it will set your light and your entire abs system will shut down until the problem is fixed.

not true ;-)
i already posted it few times...
I had a bad FR speed sensor, and my abs qould not work. I replaced the sensor. abs started working again. but abs light is on all the time. if i disconnect the FR sensor, light disappears, and abs stops working. ;D
since abs is working fine (2.5 years now) i got used to the abs light being on...
i don't feel like paying $80+ to get it diagnosed.

oh, btw. i tried the auto diag. with grounding(afair) pin on the SECU, showed no ABS errors ;D

I had my ABS light come on a couple times, i havn't tried to lock them up like you though, so I don't know if ABS works or not under those conditions.

I had the same problem, turned out to be a faulty rear sensor. Part was $550 canadian for the sensor and I put in myself (pretty steep for a magnet on a wire...LOL). The light went off as soon as I started the car again.

All right, completely pointless post.

what does changing ur oil have 2 do with the ABS light comin on? was it just a coincidence that ur ABS went out right after u changed ur oil or did the oil change somehow cause the ABS 2 go out?

Intresting... I wonder if your light is on maybe because power to the light somehow shorted to another ignition power source.

Any update?? Is the mil light on? Any codes??
seeing as how it happened right after the oil change, I'm sticking with my guess that a wire came loose or tooth on the axle broke.
