A/C behavior
A/C behavior

Guys and Gals
I have a 2003 Maxima SE.
IS THIS NORMAL A/C BEHAVIOR?
I set Fan control to 1,
Air recirculation to ON (light on),
Temperature Control to just before MAX AC (before the click, at MAX AC, your AC light comes on, so mine is just before that and the AC light is OFF),
Air Flow set to FACE ONLY,
A/C to OFF
and outside temperature 92F.
I GET COLD AIR OUT OF THE VENTS. The A/C is supposed to be OFF. Is this normal. Is the A/C running in ECON mode or something. Is the A/C running?
Can someone check this in your maxima and let me know please.
I went to the dealer today and everything is perfect in the car. They said that the a/c comes on with air recirculation. I want to hear this from other maxima owners.
Thanks
Faisal
Maybe it's the remaining cold air from when your AC was on??? The air your feeling coming out is not heated nor cooled. If the inside of your car is hot, than the blowing air may feel colder than your ambient air since it is 92 degrees outside according to your post. Just a thought.

More information is needed. What is the air temperature inside the car when the blowers are turned on? What is the temperature of the supply air as it comes out of the vents? As long as the air temp inside the car is significantly lower than the occupant's body temperature, the supply air can feel cool in recirculate mode.
ok
here is the scenario,
i get into my car which is sitting outside in 95F heat.
i turn the fan to 2, recirculation to OFF and i am driving off. there is hot air coming from the vents because right now, the air is being brought from the outside. The temp bar is where i have shown in the pic. Now i turn the recirculation to ON. Now, i do feel the drain in acceleration, cold air coming from the vents. please note that i havent turned the a/c ON and its light is off. if i do turn the a/c on, no difference in the temp of air blowing from the vents, nor any difference in the engines power.
So my guess is that the a/c comes on with recirculation.
I note little things, i just bought this car 3 months ago, and cant bear the thought that there is an electrical problem with the car. the dealer said thats normal behavior for the car. Just wanted to ask the opinion of u guys.

All recirculation does is stop pulling air from outside through your cabin filter. Instead it pulls air from inside the car, thus recirculation. Still have no idea what the problem is I think your only bet is to take it to a mechanic.
Sounds to me like that is how my car works. Here ia AC in a nutshell: 1) It works and you get cold air, 2) something doesn't work and you take it to a technician who can properly diagnose the problem.
