Clutch Pedal squeak????

When I push the clutch pedal in on my 2k2 I get a squeak/grinding....I followed the noise up to the engine where the little pivot fork is and it seems as if something behind that little rubber boot on the tranny housing needs to be lubricated, just kinda wondering if anyone has ran into this before and what I need to do to fix it.

thanks but I have already had that TSB performed.

It isn't an issue with the clutch persay, mainly the pivot fork. It will make the same noise when the car is off and nothing is spinning. I just found my old ESM and it shows to grease the pivot fork with "Lithium Based grease including molybdenum disulphide". Just want to know if anyone has done this and how to get in there to grease it??? Should be pretty easy since it is a regular maintenance thing.

This is common in the 4th gens and now it's a 5th gen problem too?

I have this squeek also but I'm not going to risk spraying anything into the tranny and risk getting anything on the clutch disk.

Mine squeaks every now and then and ticks every now and then and has done so for at least 45K miles. I remember a thread a while back about it and most everyone seemed to think that a) it wasn't hurting anything (probably) and b) it was probably not the pivot fork. Anyone else care to chime in?

I also have this quite squeak intermittently on my 2k2. Sound is exactly the same while idling and with engine off. I just figured that the fork was dried up on its pivot point. Something that wouldn’t get fixed until my next clutch.

If anyone who has some way to get a pdf on this forum and email that i can send them the pdf from my ESM then i, will be able to show you where to lubricate the problem area at. I am about 98% sure that my particular noise is coming from the "withdrawal lever" where it mounts to the "release Bearing" , items 9 and 10 on the PDF file. The manual shows that these areas require lubrication.

So if someone has a way to get it uploaded to here then shoot me an email and I will send it along so we can all look and possible come up with a way to get rid of this annoying problem.

BTW if anyone else has an ESM it is page 5 under the Clutch Section(CL)

So, from looking at the manual, you would have to remove the clutch disc (13) and the clutch cover (12)? Then lubricate parts 9 and 10?

Your suspicions are prob correct. This was my first guess. Only problem is how to lubricate that point without taking the trany out.
