2K3 Maxima Resetting ECU problems

I followed the instructions in the link http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/ecu.asp provided in the thread below but it does not work. I just dont see the SES light blink.

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=374481
1). Am I doing something wrong or is the instructions incorrect?
2). Has this worked for anyone with a 2K3?
3). Is the procedure different for a 2003 Maxima?

I have a 2K3 Maxima 50K km or 31K miles with the SES light on but with no driveability problems. I wanted to know what the DTC was that set the SES on. Is there any other way other than to go out and buy an OBD-II reader?
We dont have an AutoZone like service here in Canada, atleast I dont think we do. It was bought in later 2002 so it is out of the 36K/3 year warranty period.

I realize these are noob questions but thanks for your help

2K3 Maxima need to read DTC codes

k sorry, maybe I posted an incorrect Title.... I really wanted to know the DTC trouble code but cannot get past step #4 in the instructions. If I wanted to just reset the ECU ... I do know U can disconnect the battery for a few hours and that will clear it. Also if the code is current it should get set again if I were to reset it.

The reset procedure works on a 2003, it just takes plenty of patience (or luck) to get it right sometimes. I've never tried to check the codes using any procedure so I can't be sure if you can get that to work.

try try try again

It's not that hard once you do it a few times.

You don't even have to reset the ecu, You can check the codes first. Fock people help the guy out don't just bash him. Maybe he wants to fix his car himself.

trun key count to three, Stomp and release 5 times, make sure you take the gas all the way down and all the way up, do this within 5 sec. Wait 7 then hold the gas down for about 10. The light will start to blink Your codes will come up, Hold the gas down for 30 sec or when the codes read 0 00 0 then turn off the key and wait 3 sec and start your car.
