6th gen rims on 5th gen questions

Hi Folks,

I'm considering picking up a set of the '04-'05 rims for my 2K. They are the 6 spoke ones and are listed by the seller as 18X7.5 with a 40mm offset. I know I've seen some 5th gens with 6th gen rims here but wanted to ask if there are any issues with rubbing (I'm lowered on Maxspeeds)? How flush do these sit to the fenders? Is 235/40/18 the best tire size to go with? If you have this set up and have a pic or 2 to post that'd be most appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

A 245/45/18 would actually be the ideal tire size (OEM spec). I have not heard of anyone having rubbing issues, so I don't think yours would either, particularly considering how your drop is not super-agressive. They don't sit flush with the fenders, you're still a good 1 - 2" from the fender with these wheels. IIRC, they are the same width as your current wheels.

Thanks Metal...I'm pretty sure the 2000 SE 17's are half an inch narrower at 7" wide. I was thinking the 235/40 would be closer to stock diameter and that would result in less of a speedo error.

235/40-18 on 18x7.5 with -40mm offset will not rub, however, it's not recommended to run these tires on 7.5 rims by most tire manufacturers. The closest to stock tire size that will fit on those rims is 225/45-18, you could also get 235/45-18 but I'm not sure if they will fit without rubbing.

These should help you make up your mind:

Metal, I think you are confusing 245/45-18 with 245/45-17
