*** new stuff for my ride *** (PICS)

BEFORE....

AFTER... with our the drop

AFTER... with only the front dropped

Over all I'm very happy with the rims (ebay replicas, this post will be duplicated in the tires and wheel section with more pics & thoughts) and tires (Falken Ziex) but I don't like the feel of the car with the drop. The ride is way to rough for me, I know it's going to look a little goofy with the wheel gap but I'm not liking driving around worried about every little bump in the road, and the roads here aren't that bed. I can't imagine what the city roads must be like on you guys with some serious drops.

Comments and questions are welcome. There may be a set of slightly used Tein H-techs on the for sale forum soon....

What shocks are you using? I have Illuminas and they feel ok. Not all that rough.

I am surprised the ride seems that rough with the Htechs. Were you on the same 40? series tires and same struts before the drop? I have maxspeed with illuminas on 225/50/17 Turanza's LS-V's paired with stock gle wheels and the ride to me is very acceptable. It is noticeably better than how my friends stock 02 SE feels. All I am saying is that you may be noticing the ride degradation due to the tires profile and not so much the springs.

On a totally different note, I noticed in another thread you mention that you solved your pinging issue. I assumed you sold the car, what ended up making it go away?

Thanks.

H-Techs are crappy springs. Install a set of H&Rs in the front. And Maxspeed in the back for a perfect stance and great feel.

The struts are stock, that may be part of the problem.

The tires are brand new and they are a 235/40-18. Could be the struts and the tires together but not sure. I'll probably go back to the stock springs for now and do some more research.

No, I didn't sell the car. I used the Home depot catch can to catch the oil blow by and that has pretty much taken care of that issue.

Thanks for your candor...I was tring to get max speeds but they are on back order, they were a pretty good price for what I wanted. I'd like to keep the back stock and lower the front. It's hard to find just the front set for sale.

Kirk-

I'd go with Progress or Eibachs for a good even drop and a good ride. Kimberly has Eibachs/stock struts and 18's and her ride feels pretty good. Maybe it is your struts.

Hi there P. hope all well. I was hoping to avoid putting too much money into this project. I can do all the spring swapping myself but it's kind of a PIA. All I want is a small drop in the front all the while keeping the ride as close to stock as possible. Thanks for the input it was helpful.

I order the g35 replicas and the rear wheel bore was wrong anf the dust cap wouldn't fit on the fromt without modification. Did you have these issues with your wheels? I returned mine. The company was good to deal with BTW and I got my money back. Just curious. Thanks.

I don't like to hear that the H-Tech's are rough. I have a set on order. I'll be putting them on with stock shocks, and stock tires and rims at first. Hopefully I won't be too dissappointed.

Did you change the struts??? That would be one of the reasons why your ride is feeling bumpy and etc.

Had to "tap" more like smash in the rear dust caps to get the tire to mount. No big deal, those dust caps are cheap if I need to replace them.

Didn't install the rears and probably won't. Not into lowering anymore, starting to like "off road" look....

stock struts for now that are fine, may re-consider when they go bad.

No, I just put the stock springs back last night. I've had enough of spring swaps to last me a while...

The ebay replicas are 18x7.5. OEMs are 18x8. Not sure if there are any other differences. The 06 G35 sedans now come with these wheels in 17x7.
