Need ECU help...

Alright before I dump the money in this; Does anyone know of any reason why a 2001 ECU will not work in my 2000?

I want the 2001 because they dont have EGR's and I am getting an SES from mine being plugged off from my headers.

So my hope is to be able to put in a 2001 ECU to get rid of my SES light from the EGR...

Does anyone have any pics of the connections to a 2001 ECU, and does anyone have a 2001 ECU sitting around?

It would need to be; Auto, ABS, TC, 17".

Anyone else have an opinion?

Logically, I don't see why it would not work...

But Nissan rarely follows a logical path.

Reprogram for the immobilizer and it will work. I said I think it would work in the old TS ecu thread.

Elaborate on that a bit more...

Do I have to take it to the dealer for it to get that? I would think so and how much are they going to rape me for that?

Is there a way we can have the dealer clear our ECU and set it up as an AE ECU?

I know nothing about these things so i might sound like an idiot - I heard in Hooper's 6-speed swap, the mechanic took the ECU to the dealer and flashed it from 2002 automatic to 2002 6-speed.

Bump time!

After looking into this as much as I can, I have found that it is a no go...

The best answer I got was from a company that programs ECU's that my brother deals with, and they said the only way to make it work would be to rewire the entire system for the 01' ECU.

Now I am trying to find a company that will re-program my current 00' ECU. Not likely going to find one, but I will try.
