Full time VAIS
#2
Are you talking VAIS or the SCV valve. The VAIS is the fully electric valve on the driver side. The SCV valve is the vacuum actuator on the pass side. The SCV is a Swirl Control Valve. The idea for the SCV as I understand is to swirl the incoming air from the intake runners before it enters the intake port area. This swirling effect is supposed to increase the effeciency of the air-fuel charge to the cylinder. At higher RPM's though it is open completely and is a minimal restriction. But you could always try it out to see how it reacts. I'd be interested to know.

Keeping it open all the time you lose tq below 5k, and gain nothing after 5k, taking the rod out you lose tq before 5k and gain a little bit above.
I would be better to take the rod out instead of keeping it "open" at all times.

yeah i showed 15lb loss across the board. i don't think it's worth the loss. it screamed up top, but not enough to off set the torque loss in my books. and it was dynoed on the same day when i took it out. my HP numbers were better, but that's because it wasn't working on my first two runs.

how does that not make sense. it lost torque but gained hp. the car ran hard all the to redline from 5000 but before that it was a dog. now if i could rev my car to 7200 then i think i would keep the valve out because the car would continue to make power. but it doesn't so i'll keep it in.

Across the board, to me, means over all RPM points.
