True or False? Only 10K 01 AE's Produced?

I posted a FS for our 01 AE and someone responded that I may want to keep it since only 10,000 were produced. While I do not see many AE's on the road at least in this area (maryland), I do see enough to find that number hard to believe.

Can anyone either prove this right or wrong? Our car only has 55K, garage kept and in EXCELLENT condition, we also would probably keep the miles on it down it if this was/is true.

Not sure about the number but I can't find your FS ad, is it in the classifieds here?

As for the limited number produced I don't think you'd see much or any appreciation because at least in my opinion the 02-03's are more desireable with the 3.5 and 6 speed.

I did not know there were only 10k of them made. I thought the same with the 99 SE-Limited was the same thing when they did that ugly RED maxima. A little too overstated

Keep in mind that the 2001 AE celebrates 20 years of the Maxima. I do agree the 02/03s are more popular because of the VQ35, HIDs and 6 spd.

FS add

I posted the add under the WDC Regional section. But for now, I think we may just keep it. There is no way of knowing how many were produced, and even if the 02 - 03's are better with HID's and all, I still like the fact that ours looks entirely different from the rest.

I see AE all the time. That number of 10,000 seems kinda small, but it maybe correct. Maybe there are just alot in the MASS. area.....

10,000 or no 10,000...

I highly doubt that anyone would pay a premium for the vehicle just because it is an AE..

The only people that would - would be us, max fanatics. And so far - it doesnt look like anyone would pay more for it just because it is an AE, especially since the 02/03 out do it an almost any which way.

Back in the day when I was working on the Nissan account, the director of marketing mentioned to me that there were only to be 10,000 AEs available. So I asked for a favor

I was surprised that most of the reputable documentation posted online would mentioned that only 10,000 AEs would be made. Here is the first one I could find. It's under April 4, 2000. http://www.freshalloy.com/site/news/...00-04-15.shtml

There's a black on black AE right up the street from me.

If nothing else, it's a good gimmick to get more money off whoever is buying the car from you. the ol' "this is a limited production model" line always works at bumping the price up

Anyone know if the 10,000 figure is worldwide or just in the US?

Not all are AE's

Driving home the other day, we saw a 02 Sterling Mist Maxima SE with the Anniversary Edition Badging on the back. The car had no body kit and it had regular SE rims. We got a good laugh as we drove by slow enough for them to get a good look at a "Real" AE.

yes sir!!!!!!!!
The AE is a pretty car, but theres nothing exotic about it was to pay more for it, or it being a collectors car.......5.5 gen w/6 speed is the cream of the crop and there even more rare then AE

B4 I bought my 02' I was looking for an AE the reason there is already a turbo kit for it and a S/C kit, Other than that 02-03 all the way baby. Then buy an AE kit from the dealer if u can afford it, although there might be fitment issues, and yes only 10k AE's were made. My fav was da Majestic Blue with da Frost Int. sh*t is hotness.
