Bad tranny?

Hey guys. It could just be me getting used to the car more and more, but my 03 doesnt pull as hard as it did when I first got it. For example, say im doing 35, then nail it, the auto tranny will only down shift to 3rd instead of 2nd. But, if I use the 1,2, and 3 posistion to shift, the car hauls a**. I am having a problem with my tranny doing some kind of "late shift" from 2nd to 3rd, while the car is in D. But if I "shift" the car it doesnt seem to do the late shift, but ill have to check that out tommorow in greater detail. So what could this be? BTW the tranny fluid is red and doesnt smell like its burnt.

Might also be a cat failure, pre-cat failure, speed sensor, or any one of a number of other odd things. Do you have an SES light? If so, get the codes pulled. Do you still have a warrany? If so, why bother even asking? Just go to the dealership and raise a little hell.

I did have a SES light but it went out after a day. It is still under warrenty, and I already have raised a little hell and they still stick with "theres nothing wrong with this car".

my car did something simular, but then again i was "downshifting" my auto and my tranny fluid looked like dried blood at 67k. got a local place to pump in fresh fluid (i dont think it was a flush since it was around $50)My problems went away after that. they gave me a 30k warranty on the change and it was only JUST starting to darken when i brought my car in for the 90k service, so im happy
