That's about 215 whp (assuming it's a manual)... add another 20 whp (overestimating) with simple bolt-ons gives 235 whp.
Let me use my car in this example. 180 whp with bolt-ons and stuff. Drop a SC and I get about 70 whp so a total of 250 whp. If I get itchy, I'll get a 3.33 pulley which gives about 20 whp. 270 whp total
So, my $4000 "investment" on my "automagic" will still outperform the 2002. How much are you guys going to loose just to trade up? Can you say bling bling bling bling bling bling.....???
Yes, reliability is an issue with the SC, but what about the new Max? First year bugs with that new engine, ECU, TCM, etc.
Makes you think twice now, huh?
BTW, how much does the 2002 weigh? I have no clue. <~~~ Never mind... just noticed. The 2k autos weigh about 3245.

Y2KevSE, that is all fine and dandy. But you will still have a 1-2 year old car with mods that will not hold thier value.
I think I may be lining up for the post october run, maybe spring 2003.
Though, like I said in the general forum, I will want to keep my rear black lights and my OEM 17's.
Any idea on what the gear ratios will be? Are we finally going to get a longer 6th?

Nissan Maxima's don't hold their values anyway. I'm talking to performance oriented members in this situation. If they want the car just to have more power (w/current Max trade in), it's not going to be a wise purchase (financially).
I purchased my car 'cuz I don't believe in leasing, so I'm staying with my SE. I love the specs on the 2002, but with some of the exterior and interior styling changes, I think the 2000 and 2001 models actually look better (with the exception of the GXE and GLE tail-lights).
I agree with Kev in that it doesn't make much financially sense to get the 2002 if you have one of the existing 5th generation Maximas. But if you have money to burn, then, hey, go throw your local Nissan dealership some cash.

when you say bugs in 1st year, isnt this motor very similar to the 3.5 in the pathfinder? I dunno im just guessing. And do the 2k and 2k1 have this ctvc valve timing? And no I aint thinking twice Ill be putting in the order in nov or dec to get the full load se with the helical lsd.
I come up with 221 HP to the wheels. That's with a conservative 15% loss for a manual. Mike Sprung got 201 HP out of his 2000 Cali Spec SE with only a Stillen intake. Add 20 to that and ya git 241. Sure beats the 165 that I have right now. If I get it, I won't be one of those obnoxious manual shift biggots, always announcing my superiority. It will cost me more than a supercharger, yes, no doubt about it. I will have a warranty however.
Actually, if my wife trades up to my 2000 GXE, it help us both out.
The 2002 Maxima 6 speed is a shade over 3200 lbs. I think it would take a SC Maxima. We'll have to wait a few months to find out.

I've had good luck, but my mods are mostly cosmetic.
Kev, where are you going to get a supercharger for an auto Max? used or are you a "manual" Maxima.

Can you go direct to Vortec and get someone to manufacture the hoses, braces, etc?
Or Plan B... get someone with a manual Maxima to order it for you.

A little thought over the resale value of the Maxima.
With the new 2k2 Max coming out, won't the resale value of the Maxima increase? It was low before because it wasn't that popular, however now it is gaining popularity VERY quickly, this forum is a testament to that, so wouldn't the resale value also reflect that change by increasing?
I have a feeling that used Maximas are going to be worth more now.

I was thinking along similar lines. If they discontinued the Maxima or made it into something less, that would drop our values even lower.
