GXE fog light hole filler sucks

Ok sorry for multiple threads about this one job, they can be deleted if need be, I just need an answer quick since i have the car apart now. I can not get the plastic inserts out!!! I have been screwing with it for 20 mins and am getting pissed. Everything else looks pretty easy as far as putting in the new fogs, the wiring is there and all.

Does anyone know how to get the GXE fog light hole inserts out???

I had the same problem and accidently scratched my car a little doing it, I was getting royally po'd, if you know what I mean. They are not easy to get off. I had to use filler paint to patch up the scratches I made. Be carefull. They will come off. Try using a skinny towel and pop them off using a skinny flat head screw driver.

I recently installed foglights in my GXE. I bought them from http://www.courtesyparts.com/, and just followed the instructions that came with them and had no problems. I just used a flathead screwdriver and pried the hole filler out from the top and they just popped right out. The only pain, was taking out some of the plastic fasteners that hold the splash guards underneath the bumper.

Yep, getting fogs out/in can be a real PITA. Seems like you got it now though.

Do you mean they won't fit in through the back of the bumper? They are supposed to go into the holes from the front of the bumper, if that's what you mean..

it seems like the foglight assembly wont go far enough back into the hole. There is a back part with miscellaneous holes in it, but it doesnt fit in. Even when i line it up perfect and put the pegs from the foglight housing into the small holes it is not even close to being flush up into the bumper. Seems like i need to cut part of it out or something. I dont know....

Ok guys i need some help here... im ready to mess with getting these foglights in again. Getting the GXE plastic inserts out is not the problem now. When i try to put the foglight housings into the bumper they will not go back far enough. Or is it that there some sort of trim ring that is supposed to go around them??? They just wont go in far enough to get flush with the bumper cover. I cant figure it out. Do i need to cut out anything inside the bumper or what? Any advice would be appreciated.

There are 02-03 GXEs, albeit rare. Judging by the OP's screenname and the fact that only 02-03 5.5gens were available with a 6 speed, I'm pretty sure he's got one of those rare 5.5 GXEs.

This is the situation. My car is a 02 SE 6 speed... however, it was in a light front end collision before i bought it and the previous owner did a cheap fix and apparently replaced the bumper with a GXE bumper with no foglights. The wiring for the foglights, and the switch on the steering column are present, i am just trying to figure out why these 02-03 foglights i bought dont seem to fit. And yes i am POSITIVE that it is a 02-03 bumper cover. Also, i do realize that it has 00-01 headlights too, it sucks, but hey i got a good deal.

Can someone please post a fairly close-up picture of their 02-03 front bumper showing one or both of the foglights? thanks

I replaced mine with aftermarket fogs and had to do a different set up to get them centered and secured. From the sounds of it you might need to remove the housing from the fog light. You can push it back far enough then but you might have to manufacture a mounting point.

Honestly it sounds a lot more difficult then what it really is.
