its a manual. i checked if its sucking air up but its not.

also is the car suppose to shut off when you remove the stuff all the way up to the TB. i tried seafoam on it and had to go throw the vacuum line. i only opened up the tube between the MAF sensor and the TB it self. thing just shut right off, pretty funny actually. but yea...

The vacuum line is where you are supposed to seafoam from, and you can't just dump the can in the line and think it's gonna stay running...you just choked it......

"Alright I live in New Jersey and just bought a 2000 Maxima SE. The car came from Massachusetts and it runs fine. The only problem I have is that there is a window tint on the front two windows which is illegal in New Jersey. So I probably won't pass inspection. Is removing tint worth doing on my own or should I pay someone to do it? Cause I heard its a pain in the ***. But I'm gonna see if I pass inspection first."

Or Windex works good also. Not that bad to take off. Just be careful not to razor your defroster stripes.

of course i didnt drop it in the vacuum line lol. i was gonna go through the TB since my friend did his mustang like that. instead we measured out the amount and let the engine suck it up. car didnt shut off by it self. when i was going to pour through the TB the car shut off so instead i did it with the vacuum. car still runs just shtty idleing... when ever i press the gas it just goes down. im going to check for vacuum leaks tomorrow.

I have a '98 SE and my father has a '03 GLE. His bose system is 100w and mine is a 200w system. Are there different grades of bose systems when buying a maxima?

IMO, Bose is a waste of money. Saying that, newer versions of the Bose system will be better the a 10 yr old vehicles. Wattage means nothing, you could have a 100watt system sound better then a 2000w.

lucky lucky I have
my car light up the check engine intermittent and I have to replace the MAF and the IACV due to codes p0100 and p0505 but not the ECU!! I was thinking that the ecu was fried due to all the threads relating the error p0505....

so how do you find the apropiate adjust to the TPS(throttle position sensor)???

my transmission was shifting randomly and remember taking out the TSP when I clean the throttle body.. the point is that I adjusted the TPS my self and test the car and the car is running fine now.

But there is a method to adjust the TPS????

Nope. According to the ESM, the TPS is electronically controlled and does not mention a "adjustment" prodecure. If your harness was not seated properly, the ECM would not get the right voltage readings.

Had to be something wrong with it if he was selling for only 7500. I can that much for my 01 autotragic.

Not necessarily. One of the Dallas area members bought a mint '03 GLE hard loaded Titanium edition with 42k miles for $8900. Some people just want to get rid of their cars and as long as they get at least a bit more than the trade-in offer, they are happy.

Well it have two bolts that you can unscrew and adjust the position of the tps.... I adjusted it myself but without a guide to get the correct position. At least the car is running fine now but maybe it can be running better......

Hey guys. I am trying to diagnos a problem but it seems like my battery is on its way out.

Whenever I shut off the car and turn on my hazzards, double parking, after like 5-10 minutes, I come back and try to start her up, it sounds like there barely enough juice to crank her over, but once, it didn't have enough power to start up at all and i needed a jump.

is the battery on the way out or is there any culprit?

I am thinking about doing the Big 3 grounding kits.

I read in one of the thread is that the alternator to the positive terminal on the battery? Was that a mistake or should it be negative terminal?

My windshield is cracked. someone's parting out 02 maxima here.

This 02 maxima has tint all over, so I was thinking about getting all the windows and put them on mine.

For those of you with the oil burning problem, do you notice blue smoke taking off? I wouldn't mind topping off the oil, but the blue smoke is a big thing to me. It makes me think of old Jettas or something

When installing front struts how critical is it to have the out and the notch facing exactly out? I put it out but during the process of putting on the bolt and letting off the spring clamps it got a few degrees off. Am I just being picky?

dude its not really worth it getting "ALL HIS WINDOWS" for the sake of getting them because they are tinted

get the windshield replaced.....and get your windows tinted you will come out cheaper that way

Either the battery is getting weak or your alternator isn't fully charging it. Don't keep putting it off either. If the battery is going bad, the alternator is working overtime to keep it charged and you'll eat the alternator too.

First thing to check though, is the terminals at the battery. Make sure they are clean. If they are, go to Autozone and have them check the charging system. They can tell you if it is the battery or alternator.

Lets do a test, shall we? Get a flash light (non LED), and turn it on......now leave for a few hours and come back........wonder if the battery will drain....

Alternator question
Hay all, thanx for the help ahead of time.

I have a 2003 max, just installed my music which is roughly about 1600 wrms total (about 1200rms bass) and found my electrical system is dropping below 12 volts. I called a few friends and they tell me the nissan alternator is 110 amps but the car itself is using just about all of it. So my questions are - has anyone else experienced similar results? Who and where can I find a high output alt? And last, does the 2k-01 alt fit the 02-03 max?

Again thanx

Quote: One of the first things I did. Between that and the OSCAI, it pulls noticably cleaner from 5500-6600 rpm.
I am a bit perplexed at this setup, the dryer hose works - I have done it a few times, but cutting or opening the airbox to allow the hot air from the engine bay in??? This would go against the fact that cold air has a higher oxygen content than hot air, I am not saying it doesnt work just found this to be odd, but if it works .

I was looking at the airbox and the contraption of plastic pieces all over the intake end and was thinking of hacking it all off and sticking the dryer hose right at the mouth of the airbox, this way the only air goin in would be from the hose. Just a thought for now

You really should think about installing a capacitor for your system, it will reduce the load off your alternator. The alternators for the 5-5.5th Gen are different part #'s.

I have a 1.5 farad stinger capacitor in there. The cap has a digital readout as well as the main fuse holder under the hood, once I turn up the music to a decent level (loud) both voltage readouts drop below 12 volts. Right now I have opted to listen to the music really low as to not stress the alt and battery .
I did find an alternator for the 2k-01 max but wasnt sure if it would fit, I did notice they are different part #'s but they look the same and 1 seller said it will fit. thanx for the info.

caps do nothing.

what you need to do:
big 3
probably a new bat
and if you put a bat in your trunk that would certainly help too.
caps do nothing get it out of there unless you just want it for the digital voltage readout.

I agree with you on that, The cap i have came with the wiring kit I brought so I installed it. The battcaps I have used in the past seam to work better.

that would work fine. but intakes really are only for sound. the hp increase is minimal and the throttle response with any aftermarket intake is worse then stock. fact.

Quote: that would work fine. but intakes really are only for sound. the hp increase is minimal and the throttle response with any aftermarket intake is worse then stock. fact.
from what i've learned - which doesnt make me rite - most intake systems are the short ram systems which leave the cone filter under the hood in the engine bay, this means your sucking in the hot air from under the hood. Cold air has a higher oxygen content than hot air, which would make the short ram system pretty dumb, the long ram system puts the filter out of the engine bay and in turn sucking in cooler outside air. A true ram air system works better than both but at higher speeds. But what is theory and what is actual sometimes can be very different at times, thats why I was perplexed at the setup mentioned above and noted that if it works than great, but in theory it shouldnt. IMO - its not worth the trouble or $ unless you are modifying the engine for larger hp gains, the hp gains are minimal if any at all by themselves.

After speaking to a couple of friends, the reason for diferent part #'s is because 2k-01 is a 100 amp and 02-03 is 110 amp. Aside from that the alt is the same and will bolt up, I just ordered a 160 amp and will follow up here as to how it goes. Just thought I should share the info in case any one runs into similar situation or has same question

i jus replaced my alternator and got a brand new battery because it was starting funny, and i got it tested at autozone and they said it was the alternator. but now it starts even worse...wen i 1st try to start it it doesnt start at all, then the 2nd time it will start, die down, then come back to life. after it starts, the car runs great, no codes or anything. could it be the starter?
