Sounds like you already answered your own questions. Take off the calipers and take a look at your rotors, pads, shims, calipers, and caliper pins.[/quote]

so do i just stare at them or what?

ive never encountered this before, ive replaced brakes before on other vehicles, but never had a rattle in there. what would make this brake job any different?

Hello Folks,
Great site, kinda like a labyrinth with the crazy links , but very informative. You guys know your cars. I'm a little overloaded with info, and in the spirit of keeping the noob thread at the top...

I recently purchased an '02 SE with 32xxx. I'm the third owner. Automatic, but clean as a whistle, garage kept, almost perfect. Gotta 0139 and 1147 today. Reading through most of the stickies, I see this is a common deal. Looks like some TSB's have been put out relating to this. Am I, as a third owner, entitled to dealership freebies if they haven't been performed yet? If not, and I have to shell $ out for new O2's, what is the best exhaust mod to help with gas/performance that might eliminate a set of sensors? I had to replace the exhaust manifold with an inline cat that I kicked myself over for not upgrading on my SVT Contour. All advice welcome, thanks for reading...

There's a problem with FM reception with aftermarket HU? Never had a problem....just be sure you reconnect the power antenna wire back up.

Ok guys, had my 5.5 gen max for almost a year now and today my friend helped me lowered the max, however when we were trying to take the wheels off in the front on of the studs for the wheels didn't loosen and we are using air tools btw. Anyway long story short the stud bolt finally came out and it broke the bolt in half and with it along wheel lock stuck on the broken bolt. so now my wheel is bolted up to four bolts, and was wondering how i can replace it it and would be expensive. much help appreciated.

Blower Moter

I've got a question, I have a temp controlled AC in a 2000 Maxima, and yesterday my air completely went out. It will not blow on any of the 4 speed settings. Also tried changing the air vents, it did nothing. I got my boyfriend to pull the glove box last night and we pulled out my blower motor and looked around to see if we could figure out what was wrong with it. He checked the thing under my hood...i believe it's called a resistor (sorry if it's not I'm not that great with car terminology and I'm still trying to learn) and it was fine. But neither of us really know that much about the AC in my car so I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it would be the blower motor that went out or something i believe he called an amplifier. I've looked on the other threads and for the most part every one seems to have a problem with it just blowing on one speed. If someone knows the difference of how to tell from one thing or the other that would be great. Thanks Guys!

Have him check power going into the blower motor, if he has voltage (12vdc) then the blower needs replacement. If there is no power, it's most likely the resistor pack like you said, or the control panel. I would check all fuses first, then go for the resistor pack.

so ive been getting crap gas mileage and ive certainly lost some power (my trap speeds dropped from 104 to 101). I bought a new MAF a little bit ago and havent received it yet, im wondering if that could possibly be the cause of my troubles. my wbo2 says that im wavering between 12.8 and 15.2 afr while cruising, but the average seems to be around 13.5:1. this is during normal cruise. when i blip the throttle my afr's drop to like 11:1. not sure WTF is up. should i expect the new maf to fix this?

Are you looking for reviews / opinions? If so, check tirerack.

If the voltage is good at the blower motor connection then its the blower motor, not the resistor pack.

Someone gave you misinformation about this. On a 2001 the y-pipe will only remove the rear pre-cat. The y-pipe connects to the front pre-cat which will remain.

The pre-cat that is closest to the radiator is the front pre-cat.

On 00-01 ONE pre-cat is in the y-pipe. ONE is in the front by the radiator. This is for cali-spec cars.

Question.... I have an aftermarket HU in my 2k max and it dies all of a sudden sometimes. When it dies, the clock will still come on as if i hit the power button and had the clock disp. on and I hit the powerr button and it turns back on. Its the second HU in the car since I bought it and both did that. Anybody know what could be causing it?

Sounds as if your connections in the back are not good. How did you connect the wires? Don't use electrical tape because the heat will cause the tape to melt. Use wire crimps to make sure everything is tight.

Alright, so I bought some PIAA 9005's for my high beams about a week ago and they finally showed up yesterday, figured I'd pop them in real quick before heading out last night so I get to my friend's and decide to do it there and this ended up being a 20-minute expedition into trying to make things that are too big fit into something too small. They would not go in at all. Now I've read about 'shaving'/filing a something down to get them to fit and also about swapping the o-rings with the stock lamps but I don't see how that's going to help so perhaps I'm misunderstanding what needs to be filed because swapping the o-rings did absolutely nothing. Here's a sweet photoshop thing I put together...

1, the base or whatever, is thicker than the stock base and 2, that whole area from the base, through the o-ring to where the bulb actually is is longer than the stock's same area. Not sure which part is causing it to not go in far enough for the twist but it's pretty frustrating. Any tips or tricks that I may have missed through a search or are these bulbs just defective or something?

antenna reception issue

I searched and searched but couldnt find an answer.

I installed a system in my friends 2003 Maxima Titanium edition. Had the Bose but all was bypassed. Installed these components:

Alpine 9887
Alto Mobile 4 channel
Illusion audio mids
Seas neo silk
Elemental 11k
Zapco studio 300x

Sounds great in all aspects except I get zero radio reception. I hooked up the power antenna lead and am using the adapter. Created a new ground for radio and pac swi. Whats going on? ALso hear a change in static when I put the rear defroster on (antenna is embedded in rear windshield)

What the dil?

I have them crimped, have done it like 3 times since I thought that could of been the problem. I dont use tape I got butt connectors w/ heat shrink already on them. Does the stereo cage/housing/bracket whatever it is have to be grounded itself? Could it be a bad acc power source? Its the one that goes on the stereo harness that I'm using.

A set of studs is fairly cheap at any auto parts store. Or, go to Nissan, a little more expensive, but probably worth it.

Mine does the same thing. What were the conditions like for the 2 runs where your trap speed dropped?

The precats / manifolds on 02-03's are very restrictive. Even more so than an 01 Cali spec.

Since i am unable to create my own thread as of yet, i figure i post this here. After only 1 month with my 2002 Maxima SE, i sold the damn thing. Nice looking car, great engine and tranny, but the thing had the suspension of a skate board!!! I was actually embarrased to put people in the car with me. Even after i replaced all 4 struts, people would still ask me, "why does this car ride like that?" The car would even bang while driving over the slightest cracks in the highway. My previous car was a 2000 Acura 3.2 TL type S, and that thing rode like a dream compared to the Maxima.

Now i understand that this car is suppose to come with a stiff sports suspension, but god damn! I've also owned a M3, and driven in a friends IS300. Both those cars come with stiff sport suspensions, and yet they felt lightyears better than that of the Maxima's.

I now went back to Acura and purchased an 03 Cl type S coupe.
