Door adjustment?

Can't seem to find my FSM CD-ROM. I know it's probably pretty simple, but has anyone adjusted their door to close more smoothly?

My driver's door is sagging a bit so it hits the striker pretty hard and I frequently have to re-close it when I get in, since it doesn't close smoothly. Is it easier to adjust the door hinge bolts (or possible, for that matter) or just adjust the striker itself?

thanks in advance.

mine is doing this as well, and from what i can see, the hinge is just not tight enough...i just keep on forgetting to tighten it up (unless of course I'm somewhere that I don't have the means to do so )

why don't you come over and fix it for me, player.

Maybe I'll give you a stage 1 LTB now that I have a stage 2 sitting here.

btw, sorry to hear about your loss...if you're not at work on Friday, give me a call. I'll be around the house doing a few car projects.

The problem is most likely the brass bushings in the hinge pins. They wear out and cause the door to fall when opened. Dont bother moving the striker down because then the bottom of the door will hit the rocker panel and will have misaligned gaps when closed. If you try and adjust it on the other end you could end up chipping the paint when the door swings out. If by some luck you get it adjusted right and it looks OK and shuts OK, it will come back sagging soon enough. Just buy new/used hinges and install them.

new hinges.

I have had them sitting here for about a year now....kind of got a new primary car, so I have gotten Maxima lazy.
