POST Fuel Filter Swap Results...NO Difference

So i was bored and decided to change my fuel as other did,

my car has 68K on it, the stock fuel filter was very very very dirty, i swapped it out with a new one,

there is no difference whatsoever, no increase in gas milage, no increase in power

this is a just an fyi, for those that are going to do this filer swap for any kind of gains, you will not see any

Were you expecting 50hp to the flywheel, increased traction, or any other type of MAJOR difference......cuz I wouldnt have expected any unless the car had gone 100k+ on original fuel filter and driven with the gas cap off for a 1/3 of the time

I recently changed mine with about 68K also. I noticed no difference what so ever as well. Ahh well, increased gas mileage wouldve been nice.

Things I noticed were smoother excelleration, faster response and no hesitation. That's aside from the 0-60 in 2 sec. after install.

I am pretty sure that the dealer wouldn't even do it for you, because Nissan does not reccomend that you change the fuel filter ever.

Hi All,

I couldn't comment on my gas mileage last week because I took an unexpected highway trip (outside my normal weekly commute). On that week, I got 350 miles to the 1/4 mark (which is quite unusual for me). I usually see 300 miles to the 1/4 mark on highway trips.

This week I am above the 1/2 mark after a full week of commuting. MPG shows 28.4MPG (which I know is inaccurate) however it usually shows 27.5MPG without fail. This is on a commute I've been doing for 3 years and always get 250 miles to the 1/4 after 2 weeks.

So, in short the MPG is better albeit by about 1 to 1.5 MPG. I do notice smoother acceleration and faster response (but idle seems the same).

Damn, how do some ppl get 350 miles to the 1/4 mark? If I run my car to the last drop of gasoline, I'll probably get 300 miles, maximum. And I have the same 3.5L as him.

Why are people changing their fuel filter out so early?Did they fill their tanks with mud? Doesn't Nissan recommend changing it at 100K if not never?

In regards to mpg, i get about ...300 or so to a 1/4 mark in mixxed city/highway. About 380 highway in my VQ30.

How many miles have you put on the new filter?
The benefit should be long-term, in that you're burning cleaner fuel.

Don't know if you found it yet. Some say it's a little more difficult to do I'm not for sure though. Maybe it's because of the write up.

Nissan says you don't have to change it, but I'm sure some of us do it for peace of mind. clean>dirty
