Cattman Y-pipe Question
I ordered a Y-pipe from Cattman through the recent group deal and got it this morning. Kudos to Cattman for quick and speedy delivery up here to Canada.
But my question is this. One of the deciding factors for me in getting the Cattman piece over the Stillen unit was the fact that the Stillen used flex pipe which was supposed to cause an irritating hissing noise, while the Cattman site specifies and illustrates their unit with a "dual 3-wall slip joints replace flex (pipe)". So I pull the pipe out of the shipping box and what do I see? A big chunk of Flex pipe....Ack!!! What's the deal here? Did everyone else's ship like this? Maybe its not a real problem. But I really spent some time researching and asking questions when the group deal happened and I am a bit disconcerted to see the flex pipe. Nice craftsmanship, but.... Anyways, just wondering what the others thought of this. I'll call Brian myself unless he replies here.

Albertan, I got my pipe in sometime last week. I just got back this morning, and looking inside the box I got the flex pipe too. about 4inch long or so. The other thing I saw was that there are no weld hangers on the pipe to hand it to the car like the one in the pictures. wonder if thats for the 5th gens only or whats the deal with that. I'm way too tired to put the car on ramps and look at it but looking under it for a minute I can see there's a plate where the hanger is for the stock Y-pipe.
Also, on the gaskets for the pipe and screws and nuts, Can someone do the dirty work for me and find out what I need? if someone has done the install on a 5th gen non cali spec and can tell me the nissan part # and tell me what bolts come off and what stays would help. I have the 2K SE FED EMISSIONS (non cali spec). Thank U Guys in Advance for any help I can get..

the reason for the flex area is the 1st gen ss pipe was to rigid without some sort of a flex area. the flex area in the ss is 3 inches smaller than the stillen and the jet hot trust me i had all three so far. so the noise is not really a factor.
