Temporary loss of OD

Temporary loss of OD
On the way to DC this weekend I noticed the tach hovering around 4400 RPM at 75 MPH. I moved the gated shifter over to 3rd and absolutely nothing changed. I figured this meant that I was already in 3rd. The car would not shift into 4th even when I manually shifted from 1st to D. Before I headed back home, I reset the ECU, pedal and throttle and the car shifts fine now. Has this happened to anyone before? Could this be an early sign of tranny failure? The car has 73,000 miles on it. I did a tranny flush about 30,000 miles ago. There are no rough shifts, no slippage that I can feel. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

We do not have an "OD" light on our A33B dash, nor do we have an O/D button. Just PRND321
I have ahd this happen once. And every now and again, seems to happen more often when cold.
Doesn;t seem to be a mechanical problem, perhaps an electrical problem. I spilled some sprite one time and I'm guessing it didn't help.
