Any luck w/ aftermarket starters?
I am just getting ready to replace the starter on my wifes '00 SE. It has 90K, and this is the second time I have had to replace it. Last time I got a denso reman from the dealer. It didn't last as long as the original. I would not think this would be a common failure point, but I had to do it on my 97 max as well.
Since the OE reman didn't last very long - are the ones at Pep boys, or Napa worse than the OE?
What about getting it rebuilt at a local shop. The last two times it was the reduction planetary. This time it is the solenoid - it clicks, but does not make the electrical connection between the two terminals. Should be an easy fix if you can get the parts.
I also need to be able to get it locally - last time I had warning and was able to order one through the dealer. Now the car is dead - My wife can't drive my car (6 speed) and I can't drive her around all day.

Oh well, I went ahead and got another one from the dealer. And put in a new MAF, and got the ECM update, and replaced the front 2 O2 sensors. hopefully this will be it for a while. Oh, and the new tires, and new battery.
Should be good.
