I went to pepboys today and I saw like 5 different horns, triple sound, dual sound, freeway blaster and some more of those. Which is better airhorn or electric. i don't want my horn to sound like those big ships. Something just with more "bass" to what we have now. Is Fiamme a good one

I don't think those ones like the jeep look good on a maxima. Its like those big a$$ ships. I once heard a cadilac honking in the street and i seriously thought it was like a truck, i turn around and i see what i see. I want to look for something like the VW has, two horns at the same time.

I just installed the Fiamm Freeway Blaster "E" and "F" horns on my 2k1 SE, per instructions from other members on this forum. The stock horns sound "cheezy" to say the least (like a 50's or 60's VW Beetle). The horn behind the grill is the toughest to remove and replace (If you've performed a tonsilectomy at some point in your past you probably have the technique for this, no problem .) The other horn is located right next to the coolant expansion tank and is easily replaced. It has been suggested by others that the "E" note should go up front and the lower "F" note horn should replace the other one. (don't know why that is - I have absolutely no musical ability whatsoever).

The bottom line is that your Maxima will sound like a big ol' American car from the past - people WILL notice you when you hit the horn(s) and hopefully, move when the light turns green. For less than $30.00 for the pair at the local PepBoys, I think its a wothwhile investment.

What exactly are those "E" and "F" horns and why do I have to buy two freeway blasters?

Hella Horns, ROCK!!! I added two of them where the stock single horn was next to the coolant bottle. They definitely added some ***** to the wimpy stock horns.

They already save my butt from at least two potential accidents.

E and F are musical notation - different pitches. That's what really makes the horns sound nasty. You could replace only one of your stock horns, the sound would be different.

Fiamm makes many horns under different names. I bought one each of a high and low, 12v electric from Auto Palace (Mass.) The installation couldn't have been easier as the electrical connection used on the stock horn is the same as the new one. The horns cost about 8 buck each, and they sound like American car horns.

Send me a PM and I will get the brand name, although like I said, they were made by Fiamm.

Just curious, with extra horn punch, will all the horns blast while activating the security system?
Maybe I'm too sensitive, but I would be a little embarassed
walking away from the car, hitting the security button and making people jump from 500 feet away.)

I've owned a couple of Ferraris in the past (365 2+2 and a 308) and their air horns are great. Sound like a Rolls Royce, on steroids. Of course in Europe where you can go 150+mph, loud horns save lives.

I like that Ferrari "sounding" horn.

Anyone know which horn sounds like that in the aftermarket??
Need more noise than just the stock horn! Damn SUV's.

LOL

I saw over here in the org that some people are using Fiamme High way blaster. What really sucks is when you go to the store you can't know how they sound like so i just go with what I heard people use.

Hmmmm

Yeah I guess it would tough to have a horn testing center in a wide open auto store. Anyone out there know which horn has that Ferrari note to it??? Or is it the Fiamme High Blaster?

Re: Re: I like that Ferrari "sounding" horn.

I installed just the "E" Freeway Blaster Horn which from what I can tell is the High note. I haven't heard the "F" but it must be the deep sounding one? I'm going out to buy an "F" note later this afternoon.

PS The "E" note by itself isn't so great or even with the front stock horn (IMO). I hope the "F" deepens it?

Where is the "F" one in the engine compartment?

Well from what I understand the F should go on the left of the engine bay and the E should go up by the front grill. I'm not even sure yet if the F is a deeper sound than the E.

On the box, it clearly says that the "F" is the lower sounding horn and the "E" is the higher sounding horn. You can also tell because the body of the "F" is larger and provides for more bass.

Now that's out of the way, any of you guys got ideas for my dilemma?

Actually, with the Hella horns, when you chirp the alarm they don't get a long enough "pulse" to fully sound. It is more like a half chirp. It isn't much louder than the stock chirp. Plus, mine doesn't chirp at all anymore. I'm not sure why(I guess it probably screwed up something), but I like the lights just flashing without any sound. It still works HELLA loud when you hit the horn though.
