You are right, OEM is the way to go. I'm thinking Generic since I'm on a tight budget. OEM is over $200.00. Generic is $95.00. New York State.

Original of course. This is Maxima we are talking about here not Hyundai (No disrespect to anyone who drivers Hyundai.)
I have upgraded my car with power slot rotors, hawk pads, 18'inch rims. I even replaced some belts for a/c and something else. The car has been maintained real good (one Owner: Me). You should see it to believe it. I just spent over $900.00 with Nissan as far as service goes. They told me the car needs nothing. I'm concerned with wear and tear of parts like starter, fuel pump e.t.c.
What should I watch out far?

I went ahead with Nissan's recommendations at 90k?
at around 120K I had to choose one of those expensive packages and they showed a long list of things that needed to be done including replacing all the fluids.

They replaced all the fluids I believe and something else behind the gas cap. It was a black box. I'm not sure what its called. It had a hole in it and the SES light was on. I should correct myself here After that they said the car needs nothing else.

they have free shipping options and low prices.

FYI: the thing behind the gas cap is actually below it (you can see it behind the rear wheel) and is the EVAP canister. If you top off your car after the gas pump clicks, you can foul it out. It probably didn't have a hole but rather the charcoal inside was fouled due to fuel getting dumped in it. The part is about $90 or so and takes about 10 minutes to change. Other than that, you would have needed an oil change, radiator flush and fill, tranny flush and fill, new spark plugs, new PCV, new belts, new air filter and a new cabin filter. total in parts and fluid should have been around $100-150 and total time should be (if I did it) around 4-5 hours without a lift and all the nice equipment a shop would have or 2-3 in an equipped shop. Find a new mechanic.
