Clear/Smoked sidemarkers... Step on in!

I have had my Clear Sidemarkers from Custom Maxima for about 2 years now, last weekend my front passanger marker fell out... Well I look at it and the damn metal clip that holds it in place rusted through and snapped!

So I pulled my Drivers and it is also rusted to hell and ready to snap. I took off all four and put my OEM ones back on. When I ordered these things I was told they were OEM quality.. Bull *hit, my OEM sidemarkers that were on the car for 4-5 years do not have a spot of rust on the clips.

I called CM and I got the typical from them about it.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads-up about your sidemarkers before they fall out on you.

Pic of the Clips:

Yeah, go back to OEM sidemarkers...

They don't look the best, but they look better than a hanging, rusted sidemarker.

Was it still hangin there, or was it gone?

Mine fell out right in front of my brothers house, right in front of my brother...

I was worried that if it fell out on the highway or driving around town it could f**k up my bumper.

Mine fell out about a month ago. Same problem. Replaced with another set of clears, though, since I sold my stockers.

Did you guys call CM?

When I called him, he told me that I was the only person to ever have this problem...

Nope. Got it from Redline. Corey hooked me so I wasn't going to bug him about it.

Besides, they're all made by the same factory anyway.

I painted my clips with primer before I installed them.

damn you beat me to it. either that or paint it with some rust inhibitor primer. simple fix for 5 dollars. and if you want to be really meticulous about it re-do it every year and clean the inside out from any road salt (typical of your climate zone) or debris.

See, that is what makes me mad... A $70 set of sidemarkers can cause $400 in damage to your car out of the blue.

Definately where you live has to play a little bit in that rust. Of course other than crappy quality. I've never had rust spots while living in GA, but last year when I lived in TN they salted the roads in winter and that's when I noticed slight rusting.

But now that some have suggested using a primer...I think I'm going to go out there and do the same.
