Question About Pealing AE Shift *****

Whenever your automatic or manual shift **** started pealing on your AE Maxima, what did you use in order to remove the rest of the coating and leave a polished finish which is underneath.

My 5spd **** looks as new as the day I bought it, but in your case I think some Goof Off or Goo Be Gone would work?

Happy 3000th post to me.

Right, but I am talking about the AE shift *****. From what I remember, some owner has a problem with silver coating pealing off after some time. So I've seen pictures of the manual AE shift ***** without the silver coating, and they look polished. Could someone please post a picture of what I am talking about, thank you in advance.

I have this problem. I started to chip of the coating with a credit card, i figure this won't mar it. And it does look sweet with the chrome look. I only did half because its a PITA. If somebody has a better idea lets hear it.

Alright, I see. I did try Goof Off & Goo Gone, but non of them work. I guess pealing little by little is the way to go without going into some heave duty stuff which might damage the leather portion.

when i bought my max mine was already polished like chrome. i thought it was supposed to be that way. what you should be worried about is when the polished part starts flaking off and cutting your hand like mine was until i took a razorblade and peeled the rest of the metal off now i have a new and improved polished black ****!!
