Trip from Phoenix to Chicago.

I will be driving from Phoenix to Chicago in the middle of December. What would you suggest I bring with me and/or worry about?

Anyone know the road conditions during the winter months? I drove to Phoenix without a problem, but this was in the summer. I did lose 2 lug nuts but that wasn't a biggie.

I would buy a gel-based battery like an optima or exide orbital before going. The worst is to get stranded from a bad battery. Also make sure the alternator is in good running shape. Alternators generally die after about 5 years.

You lost two lug nuts? Make sure your spare tire has air. Put a nice blanket in the truck, along with some water. Check all your fluids, windshield washer, coolant, etc.

Make sure you torque down your lugs before you leave.

in addition to what's listed above: rotate/balance tires before leaving. Other than that, just check all the fluids and definitely torque those lugs down...not quite sure how you lost two, but we won't go into that

Might wanna get a car bra if you don't have one already or maybe tape up the front end with painters tape so you don't destroy it.

If the weather is anything like its been for this past week... nothing to worry bout as its been in the upper 50s to low 60s.

If you need to, I got 4 Blizzaks mounted on 4th Gen SawBlade wheels for sale....

Enjoy the drive, I've done it a few times in my Sentra SE-R like 10 years ago.... Phoenix is nice in the middle of winter. 60F and people are wearing coats ! 60F in the winter in Chicago people are out on the beach !

definetley look into getting a bra, or do somthin to keep the front in shape. Trips are horrible for the paint (rocks, bugs, etc)

Snow tires. Bra is a good idea too.
