you need to give us the history on the car and how much you're buying it for.
Most longer-lasting cars are original-owner cars...Even if this 5th gen is being sold for 3,000 save up some and get smthg newer.

Hello, I just bought an 03 with 125,000 on it. I got a great deal and I am not worried about the car. My last car a 1995 maxima had 315,000 on it ( I personally put 180,000 in the 7 years I owned it). Yes there were maintenance issues but nothing nearly as bad as some of the other cars I have owned. I wouldn't buy another F**d or M********i as long as i live. High miles on maximas doesn't scare me in the least. Just my oppinion.

Best of luck,

M

150k on my 02 still looks new, just put a new battery in, other than new tires every 30k miles not a single prob. from her. Factory plugs not a single miss, however gas mileage has droped about 3 mpg so im thinking its about time. oh yea Bose blows...my only complaint.

So how many people have actually read the 1st post ? It says 5th gen Maximas with OVER 100K miles on it..... yet you people post that you have 30/60K miles or what not on your car. WTF can't you read ?

171K miles on my 01 Maxima. Owned since brand new, even thou I had offers as high as 13K dollars for the car from cooworkers and what not, I'm not going to sell it. Ever.

111,111 Miles, it happened last night anyways Ehh its not that bad, i think i need to replace a motor mount, im shure some of my bushings are starting to go bad, needs 2 new axles (boots are ripped and have temp fix but wont last long), Ive only had 2 bad coils, an 02 sensor go bad, and the air mix door's motor for the heater/ac go bad... other than that not bad... i havent had any maf problems ( using k&n cone) ... im just afraid of the transmission, on cold days it takes forever to shift untill the motor warms up. BTW: ive somewhat abused my maxima, its been to the dragstrip a couple of times and it survived 3 hurricanes, a 2yrs in oregon as a company car. Im surprised how well my car has held up compared to grant's (maxboost) maxima. I would expect my car to last up to 300k knock on wood... Im planning on parting with this car though ill love it but im shure ill love a car w/ an M/T, more hp, and sex appeal than the maxima.

new to the forum. Being driving my car probably 2 years already.
Never had any problems. Replace all the acc. belts and spark plugs. 135K and running without any issue.
2000 maxima SE leather black on black and 5 speed. Very happy. But would like to sell it soon.

Well the poll does say how many miles does your 200k+ max have.

Now did the guy that started the thread get the early release on the year 200,000 max?? the whole thread is fukked up.

Post is for 5th gen = model year 2000 and 2001 and the question is on its reliability and high mileage... The poster just wants to gather this info so if you can't contribute, you should not post as it becomes difficult to extract info one expects to find in the thread with this title... I too am interested in how long my baby will go on for

Mine 2K is at 112,000 miles now and works well. I am expecting min 200K from it with good maintenance although I drive it to the max

If you read the THREAD TITLE carefully it reads "How many 5th Gen Maximas in the 200,000+ miles club?" So I think the only thing f'ucked up in this thread is your reading ability.

And the poll reads "How many miles does your 200k+ Max have" So the f'ucked up thing is the 200k+ (200,000+) which doesn't exist. we are in 2007. go fly a kite.

I would definitely get a history on what has been done to the car by the previous owner(s). At that mileage you could be looking at just missing the "screw you in the wallet" mark. Maintenance is expensive for this car. But mine has 120000+ miles on it and I still love the strength it has, not a lot compare to it.

I just rolled over 70000 mile but Ive only had mine a little over 3 months and so far everything is great. My only problem is my power drivers seat, you have to peck on the motor every once and a while it sticks. Nock on Wood not other problems and runs like a top. I think whoever owned it kept up on the maintanance well. I dont even burn or leak oil at all between oil changes. Which I understand is odd for the 5.5 gen. Then again I dont know the history before I got it.

my car will go past 300k miles no problem. It has 130 more miles to go to hit, 200k. but with a new engine and all at 189k means i got a lot of time left. Nothing was wrong with the old power-train, just a little dirty and rusty.

156,000 on my 2k. I bought it brand new and have replaced some things on it, some of the replacements were for my own comfort and others were absolute necessary.

Absolutely necessary: starter, alternator, axle, CV joint, front pre-cat, ignition coil packs. (~$1,000 as I did some of the work myself)

My own comfort: O2 sensors and MAF. (~$350)

I think the motor mounts are starting to go as I get some weird sounds on initial start-up and going in forward or reverse. Once I get the car moving and its warm its fine. It burns about a quarter quart of oil between every oil change. The engine is still strong as hell and the car in general is what it was when I first bought it.

However, I think I am getting old because the Eibach springs and KYB GR-2 strut combo is not very smooth...plus my current tires are noisy as hell. I may change this all back to stock sometime, but not sure...

Just hit 133333 yesterday.

I've had a lot more problems with this one than with my 96. About the only non-maintenance item on the 96 was the water pump. The 2k's big problems have been coils (really not a big deal), MAF, bearings.

But I've been much harder on it.

I do much of the work myself and when I do take it somewhere they F things up anyway so might as well.
