Has anyone gone from a 5 to a 5.5 gen and noticed a difference in the seats? Are the newer ones better? Whats different? I've got an 01 and sometimes the seat seems a bit uncomfortable.

 

The only difference is the headrest. I got some cloth charcoal seat covers from a 01 and they fit my 5.5 seats perfectly. The headrest are a little flater but that's about it.

 

The leather seats on my '03 are alot more comfortable and softer than the leather seats on my brother's '01. We both agree on it.

 

they are diffirent. i went from leather seats on my 00 to leather seats on my 02 and could tell a diffirence. main thing i noticed was more leg support.

 

the seat on the 5.5 doesn't jab you in the back as much.... 5.5 gen is way more comfortable.

 

the 5th gen seats are downright ugly compared to the 5.5 gens

 

ya the 5.5 gen seats do look better especially the headrest. the whole seat just looks thicker. they're very comfortable. the 07 maxima seats look awsome too! it's like the 5.5 gen seats look better than 5 gen and the 6.5 gen seats look better than the 6 gen o_O

 

More than the headrest, the whole seat is styled differently.... The 5.5 seats look way better and like most have said more comfortable.

 

I agree 5.5 seats are much nicer, I would love to get them in my 5th gen

 

5.5 lot more plush and looks better. i want to buy some for my 2k cuz mine sux.

 

The 5th gen seats feel like plastic deck chairs. The 5.5 gens, on the other hand, are much softer and more supportive, although the bottom cushion is still a bit thin on padding, and I'd like to have some thicker leg bolsters on my SE. The headrests on the cloth seats feel like they have memory foam in them, I just wish they were a little bigger and mounted closer to the back of the head.

 

5.5 gen's have more comfortable seats. The leather is also a step up.

I am happy with my 5th Gen Leather. Only bug I have is that the driver seats already has two small tears... My fathers 89 lincoln does not have one tear in the leather. I also sort of wish the lumbar support was better.

i have 5.5 leather seats (black) for sale came out of a max with 60k miles but i just don't have the driver seat yeah i know that sucks
