The WRX is a fun car to drive and it's pretty fast but it seems to have been dumbed down from it's rally car bretheren. I beat one in a 3 mile highway race but I dunno if the driver just sucked cause I expected it to smoke me.
It seems to do 1/4 mile times (with a good driver) in the mid 14's w/ automatic.

Those guys aren't friendly. I told them that I was going to get a WRX, but they told me to get out because I was a Canadaian.

the upcoming STi WRX will do it in 4.8seconds....it'll also cost ~$30k. Makes you wonder if the Audi S4 is an underperformer.

WRX: fast but...
No toys. No roof, and the stereo seems ordinary. Interior is cramp, and surely not luxurious. I went to the dealer to have a look. The staff seem slack, and I figure if they aren't so keen to help when you are a prospect buyer, how nice would they be once you are a owner? I didn't do a test drive cuz my friend had went there a couple weeks ago and he said they don't let people go for casual test drives. One need to put in a deposit, and they will order one in. Sound crazy.
The same day I test drove an IS300. Fun, handles well, accelerate not badly for the grip shift. Only things I don't like was that is it smaller, and RWD (plus it's $30K US). I live in Western Canada and have to deal with extreme weather conditions.
I am looking at the 2002 Maxima, Altima, as well as the TL-S, and A4. A4 is small but AWD is good. More juice would also be nice. Depending on how much the new Max will be, and how good the new Altima V6 is, Acura or Nissan might get the nod.
