If you dnt burn oil, you prolly never get your rpms over 4 .....
Ummm...driving the car hard reduces blow-by since load pushes the rings out against the cylinder walls. High RPM/low throttle angle is what causes the most blow-by. So if driving habits indeed have anything to do with oil consumption it's the exact opposite of what you're saying.

Wow...

There's no evidence of valve oil seals going bad on any VQ on this site or anywhere else, regardless of mileage. And the oil control ring is NOT at the top. There are two compression rings on top, then the oil control ring and expander is at the BOTTOM. Furthermore, oil ring losing tension on a 50k motor? Man, where are you getting this stuff from? And i won't even respond to the last one.

Ok...re-read your post. If you're just brainstorming and thinking aloud about reasons for oil consumption in general then ok. But i think that the oil consumption problems on the 3.5 in particular are due to improper cylinder honing technique and/or improper break-in which results in excessive blow-by and oil vapors entering the intake tract. I've heard of oil burners losing compression so it's what makes the most sense to me.
