custom CAI plans.. not goin so good

I have a popcharger type setup at the moment and had bought a 45 90 and straight piece of pipe from intakehose.com I was going to fit and cut them to go in the area of the PR cai. What I didn't notice however is that the bent pipe is all aluminized steel while the straight is aluminum. These metals can't be welded together. I didn't notice this on the site (lesson learned). So my only solution would be to coupler the three pieces together which is never as sleak or clean looking. Another thing I'm not happy about is the issue of supporting the weight of the steel. It means having to make a bracket and just more work. I don't know if I'm going to go through with the project anymore, what do you guys think? It would mean cutting the whole (obviously but would still rather not if I don't think Im going to be happy in the end) buying couplers, fitting, cutting, supporting. Do you think all this would be worth having the filter in the fender location?

Isn't the ebay CAI like 30bucks? That's what I used with an OEM midpipe and it works fine.

The couplers would be fine to use to seal the pieces together. You can find them at any parts store for cheap. With that being said man it's mainly if you want to put in the effort to get it done. Some people just like working on their cars where as others don't.

I personally would do my own set up.

The only real difference between the throttle body from the 4th gen to the 5th gen is the size of the inlet. It's smaller in size but nothing your coupler can't seal off.

well I was thinking like the guys above said.. to get a Bomz or something off ebay for like 25$ and just using the CAI piece. Do you think the 95-99 CAI piece could be fitted to a 2000? Like I said its just going off of a popcharger and i was thinking you could just put the hole where the tube ends up.
