freak accident.... ECU dead

I smelled something burning inside the car after an oil change yesterday. I pulled over and popped the hood, no smell. I got back in the car and the smell got stronger as I drove back home to check on the car.

I'm sitting at a light and the car shuts off. I tried starting it back up but it would crank but not fire up. The electrical system is all over the place, nothing works with the key in the ignition, everything turns on with the car out of the ignition. I get the car towed back home, pull all the fuses and everything looks fine. I follow the smell to the ECU... pop it open and one of the transistors and resistors is fried brown with a little puff of black smoke on the casing. Car is dead.

It looked to be ECU pin #5 which was roasted, I followed it to the bank 1 secondary o2 sensor. I check underneath the car and the little metal cap on the o2 sensor had worked itself loose exposing all the wires. I guess as a freak accident the wires shorted and rerouted all the way back to the ECU and fried it.

Not a good way to start the New Years.

Was this the technosquare ECU or a stock OEM one? I wasnt sure if it was you or someone else with the TS ECU.
