Cold Start

Okay so this winter in the Northeast has been really messed up so I am just now haveing to start my 00 max in the cold. When the night temp has been below like 28 or so degrees my car will start then die right away then when I start it again it starts right up. It idles a little messed up until it is warm but I can deal with that. I just have recently done coils, plugs, and MAF. I do remember it happening once or twice at the start of winter before I did all the work to it. Also this is the 1st winter I haved owned the car so I am not sure where to start. Thanx in advance

you can clean the throtle body, replace the pcv valve, clean or replace the idle air control valve.

I had the same issue. It turned out to be a clogged up EGR Valve tube. Need to take the intake manifold out to get to it and once you do that you can completely remove the throttle body to clean it as well and obviously replace manifold gasket too. I found out that it was it by accident because the manifold was being removed for other reasons. But as soon as that tube was cleaned my cold idling was fixed.

I just cleaned my TB and it still does it. Which is the egr valve tube? Can you see it when you remove the TB? When I started it this morning it was popping out the intake.

I am having a similar issue, it starts up fine but the moment i let go of the accelerator the car shuts down, seems like some sort of an idling issue. I cannot think of a reason why it would do that?

I'm not sure how hard it is to do on the maxima (anyone else know?) but you could start by pulling off your IACV and cleaning all the carbon out of it. Make sure the pintle for lack of better words moves in and out freely. (Assuming Nissan uses this kind of set-up.)
The IACV should be located on the TB and has 2 or 3 wires.
